Realms are up
Despite the issues associated with the extending of today's maintenance, all US realms are back up and running. We don't have reports of any stability issues, so everything appears good.Patch 3.0.8 is not out on the live servers, however you can access it on the Public Test Realm (PTR). Today also marks the start of Arena Season 5, so expect a lot of PvP to be going on tonight.
There's also the Winterveil celebration going underway. Today is a great time to get some of those achievements knocked out before the holidays kick in next week.
See you in Azeroth!

Any ideas when we can expect the patch?
I want to see if I'm right about my Hunter's "nerf" not being as bad as everyone thinks...
Wistin Dec 16th 2008 4:14PM
It probably isn't as bad as made out to be.

Hunters are hosed. This always happens. We start off strong, then get the nerf and for the rest of the content level we get to chase the casters on the DPS meters.
Welcome to the middle of the meters, hunters.
Arktic Dec 16th 2008 5:43PM
Not everyone can top the meters. Mater of fact, only one can be at the top of the DPS meters. That means there are 8 other classes besides you that are also not toping the chart. There is more than one reason to bring a particular class than strictly raw damage. What makes you think Hunters should be at the top rather than the casters?

My bet is that patch lands on Tuesday 12/30. That is, assuming that PTR testing doesn't reveal any major flaws.

oh thank god! the steel flask thing in storm peaks will still be available for another week. I'm 76 right now and need 77 and 1k gold before I can get that quest and obtain the flask for 10 ulduar relics.. in 3.0.8 it'll be 250 *shiver* of them. yay for no patch!

Well, I'm a survival hunter and have been since the day I started. So, I'm fairly confident in my gameplay. Really the only bummer nerf is to steady shot. Other than that, I can overcome those other minor inconveniences.

They actually were up before their extended dead line by an hour and a half if their posting is accurate and true.

European realms are now down for maintenance, estimated until 11 CET.
Spearhawk Dec 17th 2008 1:48AM
Question....why do you only care about the american side of things, I am long time reader and I never find any issues relating to extended down time in european servers or when they are down until 5-6pm. Why is that? Don't the wowinsider have any relations with the european players?
Muse Dec 17th 2008 3:26AM
(not like the european servers are ever down long enough for us to need news coverage. we even escaped the great mailbox catastrophe completely unharmed)
Spearhawk Dec 17th 2008 4:22AM
Really?
I would say that the times we have had shutdowns until 9pm are pretty long, would you not agree?
Sure the email catastrophy was bigger but you do however get coverage every week there is a shutdown, every single week. Yet there has never (as far as I know) been any mentioning of european servers in wowinsiders coverages.
I tend to lean on the idea that the bloggers or whatever thats writing are all american and as such cover america, maybe its time wowinsider gets some european coverage...
