Surprise! Extended maintenance extended
All US realms will now be down until 1pm PST / 4pm EST.I really don't know why Blizzard doesn't just change their times for extended maintenance to make it last until 1pm PST every time, or just push it back to 3pm PST and be done with it. That way there are no failed expectations when the servers don't come up.
It's a relatively contradictory thing for them to say they'll wait push a patch to live until it's ready and never give a time estimate, and then turn around and give a time estimate whenever the severs are down. Don't you think? Perhaps they should just say the severs will be back up "soon."
Of course, I'm probably just QQing because this afternoon my lazy butt is finally going to hit exalted with the Kalu'ak. I'm going to go get that sweet fishing pole first thing. I'm going to dance with it too, a pole dance if you will. But alas that'll have to wait until I can log on.
We'll put up a post when servers are back up, or some other debacle happens. Stay tuned.

If I wanted to tip wowinsider off to something, how do I do that? I dont see a tip email address floating around anywhere.
Celton Dec 16th 2008 2:00PM
There's a link on the top right of the navigation that says "SEND US TIPS"
Xerous Dec 16th 2008 2:00PM
http://www.wowinsider.com/tips
or "Send Us Tips" way up top on the right.
Adam Holisky Dec 16th 2008 2:02PM
Thanks for the tip. I'll be posting it shortly.
Amaxe Dec 16th 2008 2:17PM
Never noticed that link before. I'll keep it in mind the next time I see something weird

I don't understand why after all these years they still do this. Why don't they just say the severs are going to be down for 12 hours every Tuesday then just bring them up early. It makes them look better and not like complete morons like they do when they do this.
cjshrader Dec 16th 2008 2:14PM
That's pretty much what Scotty told Geordi LaForge to do.
Oh, what? Now I'M the nerd?

p.s. if the patch goes live tonight I'm going on record to say that within the next 48 hours there will be an outpouring of QQ'ing like we haven't seen since the zombie invasion about how raiding got "harder" with the Wild Growth/Circle of Laziness nerf (including an article on this website, prolly by Maticus)... that's going to be by far the most significant change and it's going to cause a lot more QQ'ing than has been predicted so far, raiding will be "hard" again, for all of us except the Insidia types.

You're overestimating the impact it will have.
Its 2 healing classes out of 4. And the biggest impact it will have is on malygos. Which is still a difficult encounter in the first place. (relatively at least).

Predicting that people in WoW will QQ is sort of like predicting that tomorrow, the sun will rise in the East.
IMHO, everything that gets us away from the horrible new "Spam AoE/Spam AoE Heals" style of PvE play is a good thing.

Thankfully, I have a character on the Latin American servers that I can play on, instead. It sucks that I don't understand a single word they say, but what better way is there to learn the language then to play on a server that speaks it?
Ah well, off to my Mage that can't speak... Spanish.
Amaxe Dec 16th 2008 2:19PM
Just remember, if they call you "los estupidos yanqui" that is generally a bad thing ;-)
Hangk Dec 16th 2008 3:04PM
There are a number of French-speaking Quebecois on my server and they're the only people I feel comfortable trying to speak French to. The reason? There's no way my French is worse than the average WoW player's English...
Amaxe Dec 16th 2008 3:09PM
That's a low bar to set... many English speakers on WoW don't seem to know their own language...

Evade bugs, Dalaran lag, even an Ally stealing my node doesn't upset me as much this constant BS by Blizz does! Well, at least it's comforting to see that the people at WI are finally calling Blizzard out on their failures.
Kaphik Dec 16th 2008 2:03PM
I agree completely. When Blizzard is pushing a patch, they should announce the extended hours from the get go.
This way, if for some crazy reason the patch actually works as planed, they can annoucne servers are up EARLY. That simple change would look a lot better for the company than to keep postponing the end of maintainence.
Niklas Dec 16th 2008 2:04PM
meh... people who spam Wildgrowth or CoH are clearly idiots anyway, let'em QQ. As for the continuing effort by Blizz to make hunters completely unviable in PvP, there just about there. One more nerf ought to do it...
Kick it in gear Blizz... I WANNA PLAY!!!!!!
Slaytanic Dec 16th 2008 2:04PM
ARGH. Even have my main logged out in Champion's Hall, so I can roll right away on my new, sweet s5 gear. *grumble* Only on the day I'm not going to work, right? Damn Murphy's Law...
Kaphik Dec 16th 2008 2:06PM
Doesn't the arena season have to start before you get arena points for level 80 arena gear? Or am I confused?
