The Queue: I believe I can fly

So I made an oopsie yesterday. A rookie mistake! I referenced a picture that I used in The Queue a couple of days ago, and also showed off a picture of the character it may have been referencing. Only I used the same file name for both, so the original picture turned into the second picture. I'm pretty pro, I know. It's been fixed though, so if you want to see what the heck I'm talking about, check out Sunday's edition and then yesterday's edition and you will understand! Now, on with the show.
Tim asked...
I heard that there are new DK only facial features coming in the next patch. Will existing DK's get a chance to redo their toons or does Blizzard actually expect us to cough up $15?
That patch note is being removed, and isn't wholly accurate. Those features are already in the game, you can go look at them right now. The only real change that's on the horizon for those is they were trying to make the skins easier to find and use. There's not actually anything new coming.
Maleven asked...
Anyone know what's up with the diminishing returns in heal efectiveness I've been hearing about? Someone told me that i.e. x weapon won't give you the same int, spirit, etc at level 78 as it does at level 80. Is that BS or for real?
Alright, from what I saw in the bit of discussion that went on in the comments yesterday, the problem was narrowed down specifically to the mana regeneration from Int and Spirit and not the ratings system for Haste, Crit, et cetera, correct? If that's not the case, just say so and I'll hit it again tomorrow. But if that is what we're referring to, a good resource for that is Wowwiki's Mana regeneration page. Some of it is a tiny bit outdated, but it's a good spot to find out the basics.
Ian R. asked...
Is there anyway for a Horde character to get the Bros Before Ho Ho Ho's achievement without being level 77?!
Since you can't summon players onto the airships in Icecrown... I don't think you can do it before 77. At least, there are no alternatives that come to mind. Have you tried to sprout wings yet? If not, give it a shot! If so, you have one screwed up imagination and I applaud your efforts.
I don't think you can get there until 77.
Dan asked...
Any idea when Season 5 is going to start?
Yes.
adamab1973 asked...
Does the Dalaran crater in Arathi match the actual underside of the city of Dalaran in Northrend?
Not really, though certain parts match up. The scale is way off, for one. That's understandable, though. Two, the shape isn't the same. But they didn't forget to add the sewers in the crater or anything like that, so the Underbelly could actually attach to something if the city went back home. It would just need to shrink. A lot.

Talk to the guy in Dalaran near the flightpath and he will fly you out to the Airship for free. I went there before I ever had a flying mount.
Chronnick Dec 16th 2008 4:34PM
That would be awesome if true (not that I doubt you), but can somebody else verify this?
Alex Ziebart Dec 16th 2008 4:37PM
The Alliance fellow won't take you until you're level 77. Odd.
Midmainah Dec 16th 2008 4:40PM
Maybe I was 77 when I first took that route, I can't be positive...but I could have sworn I was lower.

There is a guy in Dalaran that will fly you directly to the airship. However, I think it only opens when you are eligible for the quest, which is at level 77.
I may be wrong about the level req, but I know that he will definitely fly you directly to the airship for free because I used it while leveling.
Chronnick Dec 16th 2008 4:58PM
Taking the flight path to Orgrim's Hammer requires level 77, and here's a link to the quest.

What exactly is the deal with the PTR right now? The character transfers arent landing where they are supposed to, Non-Beta Players cant access any Wrath content, and Blizz is deleting all PTR Forum posts regarding these issues. There also hasnt been any sort of announcement from Blizzard about the PTR going live in the first place, even though it kind of is. What are the odds none of us are supposed to be there yet?
Dotixi Dec 17th 2008 3:51PM
I was in Beta and I still cant access the PTR, so I bet you are right that it's not exactly up yet.

Was wondering when the season began myself. Thanks.

Why are there sewer sharks in the Dalaran sewers? Dalaran wasn't an ocean port. True, bull sharks can be found in fresh water but not enclosed lakes like the one where Dalaran sat.
So where did the sharks come from?
Mortae Dec 16th 2008 4:45PM
It is just another pop-culture joke that Blizz has thrown in. The shark is a sewer shark named Segacedi. When the Sega CD came out many years ago, it was packaged with a game called Sewer Shark.
Kermittheorc Dec 16th 2008 4:46PM
I figured it was something twisted. Thanks.

Magic?
Sandbenders Dec 16th 2008 4:54PM
Not to be a nerd, but.... I'm a nerd. Sharks are found in at least one (pretty famous) lake in Nicaragua. The current theory is that they swam up there when the lake was still connected to the ocean, and when the connection was removed by natural geological events there were enough sharks left in the lake to form a stable breeding population.
Or they can fly.

Kermittheorc Dec 16th 2008 4:57PM
interesting. i imagine the lake would have to be large enough, with a diverse, quick breeding fish population to support the sharks.

Consarnit - beaten by a few minutes while I handled the confirmation e-mail! :P Nice detective work, guys.
Camaris Dec 17th 2008 5:13AM
The sharks are simply a result of testing new polymorph spells on unsuspecting visitors.

Dalaran is a magical city... it doesn't have to fit... magic isn't limited by space!
Aren't some of the buildings in Dalaran much larger on the inside than they are on the outside?
Jay in Oregon Dec 16th 2008 4:57PM
You have a point. We have no idea what was going on in the giant purple bubble prior to its disappearance.
Maybe they magically folded space inside the bubble so they could expand the city's environs?
