Breakfast topic: Forgive and forget?

The one thing that I'm still very frustrated with is the evade issue. This seems to happen to me far more frequently than it did pre-Wrath. I hate it when a mob resets just as it would die, particularly when it's an elite. It always reminds me of Jester diving below the hard deck. I have nothing to do but try to kill the mob again or move on to another one that's (hopefully) not evading.
Over all though, I'm happy with Wrath of the Lich King. There are some dreadful quests, but some awesome ones as well. A lot of things are reused, but many are new as well. I'm over being mad and back to enjoying the game. But Blizz, if you're reading: please stop the mobs from bugging out and going home.
Now readers, it's your turn: Do you forgive Blizzard yet? What will it take to make you happy with WoW?

Sadly, first has evaded on you. Try again. On second thought, no. Please proceed to cancel your subscription to the internet, smash your keboard with a hammer, eat the keyboard-splinters and light your mouse on fire. Maybe, just maybe, that will cure what ails ya.

Blizzard needs to send me the kitten in the picture and then I pardon them for everything. :)
Seriously, what is it they need forgiveness for? They made an awesome expansion to the best MMO in the world. Yeah, it didn't go off without the slightest hitch, but nothing's perfect.

I'm with Hangk. What exactly do we need to forgive them for? This release was better than any of their previous MMO releases, some patches, and most other MMOs on day one.

for having heroic arch evade bug to full health at 2% because some idiot was standing on the stairs

Ditto. I have nothing to forgive them for. I love this expansion, many times more than Burning Crusade. I'm having more fun than ever, and appreciating the value for the money I pay.
Bunz Dec 19th 2008 10:29AM
So it's Blizzard's fault some moron stood on the stairs while fighting him? Maybe you should learn to tell them not to stand on the stairs... IMO, this sounds more like personal stupidity to me.

Agree completely with Hangk... and Amanda you should be ashamed for such a QQ troll of a post. Blizzard did a fine job with this expansion concerning MMOs. The good FAR out weighs the bad here.
I so tired of these bullsh*t whiny people nit-picking everything in this expansion and simply avoiding just enjoying it for what it is. Sometimes (and especially with wowinsider a lot) I feel people just try to find something to complain about just to have something to discuss.

Couldnt agree more... i love wow, i'm not mad at blizz for anything. Giant queues? transferred one of my chars to one of the new servers they so obligingly opened, and played there. restarts? not that much of a big deal, honestly. extended maintenance? tends to happen when i'm asleep (the only perk of playing in australia, it seems).
The only thing that really ticked me off at all was that pesky evade bug... was trying to level my prot pally through wpl, and theres nothing like grabbing 6-8 mobs, wearing them down, then having them ALL reset on you, run off 2 feet and then come back with full health and start wailing on you again. bleh. but even that wasnt an issue for long.
There is nothing to forgive :)

I've noticed the mobs, especially if you are standing on something, or they are standing on something, evade a hell of a lot. I always thought it was something to stop people from tagging 15 mobs with dots/aoe etc, to make it fairer as everybody started in the same two areas at level 70 in Northrend.
I've noticed it's right across the board though: happens with me in Outland as well.

That's not a bug and not what the article is describing. What you've got going on is where your attacking something that can't find a patht o attack you back. The easiest way to see this in action is to attack a fish from dry land. it's not conisdered fair that you can just shoot fish in a barrel as it were and so your not allowed.
So yeah, your elevation might only be slight but it's all done to whether the mob can find a path to attack you back. If they get stuck they get a "Get out of jail free card" and reset.

" it's all done to whether the mob can find a path to attack you back. If they get stuck they get a "Get out of jail free card" and reset."
Exactly.
It's not a bug, and it shouldn't be fixed.
Mandrill Dec 19th 2008 8:35AM
Actually, what the article describes IS a bug. It occurs when a programmer does not correctly path a mob, resulting in them having gaps in their zone of movement. Want an excellent example of this? Try the "Slay Loghun" quest in Dragonblight- he's notorious for evading if you attack him at range. His path is so broken he can't run more than a few feet from his spawn point without hitting a dead zone.
This is nothing new, we've seen things like this before- mobs running through walls, over water, running around a patch of clear ground, etc. This is because pathing mobs is long and tedious work and easy to make mistakes with.
Naix Dec 19th 2008 9:40AM
Never seen this on my server.
So rock solid.
Max Dec 19th 2008 9:41AM
OBVIOUSLY we know that if the mob doesn't have a path to you it evades. What we are talking about is mobs randomly evading when you are clearly sitting right on top of them.
Zaniac Dec 20th 2008 2:11AM
I still hesitate to call that an actual bug.
What you are asking is merely that Blizzard take a look at the path/a.i. of a few mobs. Hardly a bug. But now we've digressed to word-mincing. That being said, I've never had the problem described with evading. If something evaded me, It's always been my own fault, or a case of genuinely working as intended.
All in all, I see no reason to express the anger expressed in the article, nor the frustration over a problem with the rarity of an intelligent barrens-chat conversation.

I'm happy with Wrath, and I really don't get where this bloated sense of entitlement you're espousing comes from >.>

I have to forgive them for something? The bugs were expected, the downtime has been minimal by MMORPG standards.
Though I hold Blizzard at a higher standard, there is always the issue of 11 million people trying to break what a few hundred people have made ...
All I'm hoping for is more stable servers and the stupid evasion bugs to be ironed out a little.
