From our friends at MMO-Champion, we get this news: there will be two new tanking weapons from Blacksmithing, both of them 2h weapons. The Titansteel Deflector and Titansteel Defender will allow new DK's just gearing for raiding at 80 to craft themselves a spiffy 2h with enough defense or parry to help them out without making an instance drop useless for other classes. I admit I'm eyeing the Titansteel Defender for my fury warrior's OT set, but it's clearly made with DK's in mind. They even re-use the models for the starting DK weapons, which is fine by me, those are some hot weapons.However, does this mean any serious DK tank has to be a blacksmith now? These are listed at BoP weapons, which would mean you'd have to be a smith to get one. But then again, one of the two is listed as a sword yet certainly looks like an axe, so it's possible that we'll see these go BoE, which would mean that I'd probably set up shop as a DK tank's weapon supplier. Here's to hoping.

I would be very surprised if these stay BoP. IIRC, none of the other Titansteel pieces are BoP.

This is a clear move against the philosophy behind the BOE epics. Bullshit, in other word. So if you want a DK tank, you have to be a blacksmith. Utter, utter bullshit.

Little off subject but does anyone know what addon gives the actual % that equip bonuses give like in the picture for this topic. I'd love to add it to my selectoin of addons. Thanks a bunch.

So... DK's will be able to make themselves a tanking 2h wep, but there are still no 1h tank weps I can make for myself??? Thats sorta bs.

Yeah, but the reason being Blizzard has stated on a few threads:
"There are plenty of 1H tanking weapons available in game from regular and heroic instances*"

That is correct, there are no 1h tanking weapons that a BS can create.
I understand the point that there are more tanking weps available from drops, thankfully I was lucky enough to get the Red Sword of courage my first time through UTP, but that doesn't justify all of the time money and mats I spent to get to be a 375 weaponsmith. I really hope at somepoint they rethink their approach to BS and give us some new patterns that require the useless specializations that we have now.

For Dwarf Protadins, I see no reason to not use a Titansteel Bonecrusher. As a JC, I can get my defense elsewhere. And I see no real advantages to a speedy weapon any more.
I've had no problems keeping aggro in heroics, and having 1300DPS sure as hell helps with soloing.

Rage. Both gaining it and dumping it, specially dumping it. A faster swing lets you spam more heroic strikes to convert excess rage into threat/extra damage.

The titansteel defender (the one in the image) is in fact an Axe, even if it says it's a sword
there are a couple of errors in the tooltip
Hopefully one of those errors include the Bind on Pickup...

Back at ya. There's nothing wrong with easy money, unless you're already uber rich. With Mine/Herb and only about 300g from my previous main, I had Artisan Flying and Epic flying mount on my new DK as soon as I hit 70. Doing the same from 70 to 80 so I can powerlevel BS and buy a mammoth or something at 80.

Picking gathering professions that won't directly benefit your DK...outside of potions...and then QQ'ing about your possible need to pick up BS is fail.
Seriously, the gathering abilities are NOT that useful in comparison to the awesome BoP epics that are gradually being introduced to BS, these new DK tanking weapons being prime examples.

I wouldn't put it past Blizzard to be so lame as to make them BoP. They are just that stupid when it comes to logic.
