Echoes of War hits iTunes
Awhile ago, we announced that the Echoes of War music set, the CD set by the Eminence Symphony Orchestra highlighting the music of Blizzard's most popular games, had finally been released for purchase. For those of you that prefer to get your music digitally (what's a CD?), good news! The official World of Warcraft site announced earlier today that you can now purchase Echoes of War on iTunes, either whole hog or individual tracks. If you're on the fence about picking up this album (or some of its tracks), remember that the Echoes of War site has some sample music that you can check out. Personally? I'm a fan. I adore how Blizzard uses music in their games. Still, there are a few tracks I don't care for since Diablo III will be the first one I'll have ever played (shameful, I know), and I have no emotional attachment or memories tied to those tracks at all. They're pretty music but not something I'd listen to every day. The Starcraft and Warcraft tracks are definitely cool to have, though.

...you can now purchase [Echoes of Doom] on iTunes...
Don't you mean Echoes of War?
(Not to be a stickler, but it should be fixed)

They really need to fix their iTunes sampling for the album. The album cover art are pictures of the CDs. They have them separated into two volumes, rather than disc 1 and 2 of the same album. They don't have album liner notes (I know several good albums on iTunes do, and it is quite possible to add them, just supply iTunes with a PDF essentially).
So while it is possible to get it from iTunes, don't. Just order the CD set directly from Eminence. You'll get it within a week and you'll have the hard set as well as being able to rip it to your machine.

Wow, you're right about the artwork. That looks amateur at best.
Most independent labels cannot submit PDF booklets, and the text liner notes section of iTunes Producer is currently ignored. There are also notes and lyrics fields for each song which go unused. The label does, however, have total control over their product listings (even multi-disc), price tier, cover art and where the 30 second preview occurs in each song. Many smaller labels pass through aggregators on the way to iTunes, some of which handle--and mangle--the artwork and audio encoding since it will be done for more than one retailer.
At least they ticked the iTunes Plus and ringtones boxes.

I have to agree, I've never touched a Diablo game so I care not for the tracks. The Starcraft stuff is good, though, and the Warcraft tracks are outstanding. The Betrayer and The Sun King is great, and it's amazing to hear A Tenuous Pact again. xD
I'm disappointed at how few Warcraft tracks are here in total, though. Really would have liked to hear more. Eminence performing Lament of the Highborne would have been amazing. Would have liked to hear The Sin'dorei, too. Hell, throw in The Burning Legion so we can have all three main themes in one place!

It's worth to mention that there is also an Alliance guild called "Echoes of War" who's Raid leader is one of the producers of this Album.
