Breakfast Topic: Presents!
Winter Veil is here. The cities are decorated, snowballs are flying, and everyone will be waking up early in a few days to see what Great Father Winter has left under the Christmas tree. We recognize the holidays as a time to share with family and friends. Outside of services, parties, and shopping you're probably still spending a considerable amount of time with your cohorts online. I'd like to know if anyone is planning on sending gifts to their guildies and other WoW buddies. It's unnecessary but still thoughtful to recognize these folks we spend so much time with. I think it might be fun, but I'm not sure what to get.
Sending gold sounds kind of lame. Gold is flowing pretty freely, so most folks probably either don't need it, or need more of it than I can comfortably afford to give. Perhaps I could send an adorable mini-pet, a nice bottle of wine or a lovely floral arrangement. I could go practical and send a stack of materials for their trade skills or something useful that I've crafted for them. Perhaps I could send a special holiday greeting through in game mail.
If you're planning on giving your online pals gifts this Winter Veil, what's on your shopping list?

Just as we do every year, my wife Halfoupint and myself (Blue) spend a few days making Gingerbread cookies and gathering a cold glass of milk to give all the people on Farstriders some free gifts. I craft Red festive suits or Green Holiday shirts and wrapped them in paper. We give the cookies & milk and gifts to anyone that opens trade to us in IF or SW as we announce in trade chat that we are doing this compliments of our guild on Farstriders realm.
And we now know how Greatfather winter must feel, and we likey!

Actually my realm (KT-US-Horde) does a thing called Greatfather Winterfest, basically a secret-santa type of thing. Its fun.

My guild just had a cross realm party and did a secret santa thing. I gave a nice rare gem and someone gave me rocket launcher and firework clusters...it was a blast. Then proceeded with a tonk tournament and reindeer race.

My family keeps lavishing my mom's orc warrior with gifts to try and coax her to play more.
She's still level 6. Guess i'll get her a frostweave bag this year, in honor of the weather we're getting.

Sadly, I wasn't available to help, but my cousin and other friends have been getting together as often as possible to zip through ZG, to get a Tome of Polymorph: Turtle for the friend who got us all into this game in the first place.
My first year, I got my epic undead horse for christmas. :)

Interestingly enough a priest on on my server Jaedener EU,seemed to be giving out presents to people at random in orgrimmar a few days back.
These were far from delicious choco cakes and such but rather epic crafted L80 capes and lowbie epics and blues and about 20 frostweave bags! and this was only during the hour I hung about, so goodness knows what this festive soul was giving out the rest of the time!
Happy winters veil mr. aikintaro!...i think that was it neway...something japanesey lol

I organized our guild into giving our GM a Mechano Hog for Christmas. It's the one thing he's wanted since he's heard of the bike, so... why not? We ended up giving it to him before our second to last raid before Christmas.
although getting people to give up gold is like pulling teeth. However once they heard his reaction on vent, they were all super happy to give it.

Our guild does Secret Santa every year - this is our 4th year I believe. Usually we give each other silly stuff like vanity pets and funny clothes, but some people get really into it and buy their person something they really need. I know at least one person is getting an epic tanking gun tonight at our annual naked snowball fight/holiday party in Ironforge :-D

Beloved gave a green Santa suit to a random level 10 he met. Then he crafted rings and gave 10 of them away, again to random folks. He doesn't belong to a guild currently as he hasn't found a raiding guild on his server but he enjoyed spreading Christmas cheer to new characters....

Yesterday my level 17 alt druid was running through Westfall on her way to kill Defias bandits when an 80 warrior waved her down. After greeting her he gave her 17g and said it was an early Christmas present from his guild.
I was very touched, so later got on my lvl 80 main and made him a flask of endless rage, wrapped it in Christmas paper, and sent it to him as a thank you.
Season's greetings indeed :)

My roommate, a dwarf priest, got a haircut so he looked like Santa Claus and put on the winter set. He wrapped up 30 presents, ranging from cheap tailored shirts all the way up to an Orb of Deception. We hosted a little party in Shat (where the lag wouldn't be so bad) and he gave out 10 or so. We had a lot of fun just screwing around with little trinkets and such. He spent the rest of the evening flying around Northrend, hunting down other guildies on his reindeer mount and giving them presents.

I farmed up the mats and had a Tranquil Mechanical Yeti and Lifelike Mechanical Toad made for both my gf and my brother. I'm gonna see how many drop pets and alliance vendor pets I can get before I wrap em all up and send em off.
