Casual raiding is definetily a possibility. I raided twise a week with my guild in BC. We had more raids going on sometimes, but I limited myself to twise a week. Plus we would always cut off at 11 PM. So it is possible. It just takes a right guild, and commited people. My guild was progressing a bit before I joined. I joined around a time when a lot of people left. So I did not really see SSC till after patch 3.0. But even then, I can say that I sport a full T4 set that I'm still using at level 78.

Also, lets keep the Finger up the references off. It does hit the nail but a bit too hard.
