Wrath 101: Flight paths in Sholazar Basin

-
Nesingwary Base Camp. This FP is interesting in that it is not immediately open - you need to do some quests to retrieve an engine and collect parts in order to rebuild the flying machine in order to be able to fly from it. After doing the quests, the flying machine itself, named the Spirit of Gnomeregan (26,58), acts as flight master.

River's Heart, in the center of the zone. This FP (50,62) does not need to be unlocked by questing. There is also a Cold Weather Flying trainer here, in case you happen to ding 77 while questing in Sholazar (though on both of my 80s so far, I hit 77 either one or two zones earlier).
The next post will take me to my favorite Northrend zone, Storm Peaks, which is a little more interesting FP-wise. Until then, have fun, and if you see our local friendly spirit beast, be sure to tell a hunter.
Previously: Lower Northrend (Alliance/Horde), Grizzly Hills, Zul'Drak.
Arthas awaits and so do your questions. Find the answers you've been looking for that will help you with your journey into Northrend and to level 80 with Wrath 101.Filed under: Guides, Wrath of the Lich King

If you only do one starting zone and skip the other, you'll usually end up lvl 77 right as you start doing Sholazar quests. But yeah, the smart thing to do is both starting areas, which makes you 77 starting Zuldrak or earlier.

No. The smart thing to do is to NOT do both the starting zones. Why the hell would you? You get more exp and better rewards from going and doing higher quest etc.

@ magma
No.
If you want the Loremaster of Northrend achievement it's just plain stupid to do one starting zone, because coming back at 80 would give less gold than it would to get gold from the higher level zone quests.

Even discounting people angling for Loremaster, or at the very least having the intention to finish every Northrend quest for dolla dolla billz, doing both starting zones is superior. It means you'll outlevel pretty much ever zone you go through, which means you go through them faster and easier than appropriate or underleveled folks will. Also, you'll be able to solo a lot of quests you otherwise wouldn't.
I just did Storm Peaks, Sholazar, and Icecrown at 80 for cash. So. Much. Money.

79 and still in Dragonblight, thanks to a Kurenai rep grind lol.

Sholazar has to be one of the worst zones linked to every other due to the Wintergrasp flight restriction. It uses a full half circle to the north or south to reach your destination causing very long flight times to zones such as Zul'drak or Dalaran.

the best way to get to Scholazar from Dalaran is probably flying over Icecrown citadel to the Avalanche

the "spirit beast" link seems to be pointing to the wrong location. I assume it's a loque reference.

Doesn't Icecrown has the fewest FPs in Northrend? :D NULL? :)
Brian Dec 21st 2008 3:13PM
Icecrown does have flightpaths, but most of them are in areas that must be unlocked through phasing. To the best of my knowledge, there are four.

Suggestion: Please make the maps bigger for these types of posts. It's not so much a problem for zones like Sholazar, but the tiny maps can get jumbled and confusing when you're dealing with a zone with multiple FPs and tons of other stuff.
If you can't add a bigger map to the actual blog post, make it thumbnailed so we can bring up a larger version ourselves. Thanks.

I've found alot of flight points in storm peaks... the next edition of this should be interesting.

I have both flightpoints, but neither connects to the outside world. What am I missing?
