Breakfast Topic: Patch 3.0.8 excitement
Last week brought us a lot of news on patch 3.0.8, and with no sign of it hitting live realms particularly soon, we're bound to see a lot more. It's not a full blown content patch, so no new dungeons or raids, nothing of that sort. That doesn't mean it's not packed full of cool stuff, though. What are all of you looking forward to the most? There aren't a whole load of major class changes for my personal favorite class, Priests, but the one change there is for Shadow excites me a whole lot more than it really should. Glyph of Mind Flay will just cause the spell to slow the target a little less, rather than removing it entirely. Small change, but it will make life as a Shadow Priest so much easier. When dual specs roll around, I can just have a Healing set and a Shadow set of glyphs rather than a raid set, a soloing set, and a healing set.
Of course, I'll probably end up wanting PvP sets of glyphs and all of that too, but oh well. Swapping glyphs before and after every raid is one of the more annoying things in the world (of Warcraft). I can handle swapping for PvP if I can avoid doing it for raids, too. I guess there's some other Priest change, something about some healing spell, but I think I'll get shanked if I bring it up.
I'm also pretty stoked (yes, I said stoked) about the change to Relics of Ulduar. Being able to use them for Sons of Hodir reputation? Having the ability to sell those silly things off on the auction house when I'm done with them? That's fantastic.
I know Hunters most certainly are not looking forward to this patch (as needed as those nerfs may or may not be), but certainly a lot of people are. I know I have a few guild mates that are very excited about being able to get the Chef title now. So what about all of you? What's your favorite part of the upcoming patch?

No more racial restrictions on mounts!

I'm definitely looking forward to the hunter nerf, as my main's a rogue - time to set things clear PvE-wise :)

Nice way of looking at it :-)
Sorry to say though, after reading the BRK post about the hunter nerf, it seems hunter dps isn't going to suffer a lot (something like 6%)...

I still say it would have better for all concerned, not to mention more fun, if blizz had just brought the rest of us up to what they were pumping out. Or just nerfing volley somehow could have done it; a hunter friend of mine posted 5.6k dps at the end of a naxx *pug* the other night, and that's just wrong. The #2 slot barely broke 3k.

and your also probably one of those folks who says the game is too easy right now. Imagine that, let us double everyone DPS.

You could kill a Hunter easily anyway, even despite said nerfs coming to them in 3.0.8
Wyred Dec 22nd 2008 11:37AM
Not hunters Clbull, we could kill you easily. You QQ'd about the state of hunters after they got the biggest buff they'd ever seen. If you're so unhappy about them reroll already, nothing's ever going to satisfy you it seems

I'm always amazed to see why other classes would be overjoyed about a damage nerf in PvE. If you're trying to kill Boss X, why are you happy about doing less damage?

Raidwise, now I don't have to blow 20 Shards to summon people outside IF/SW/Darn/Exodar
Faar Dec 22nd 2008 12:48PM
Yeah, the summonable summoning stone thingy for warlocks is a great idea. I never expected (or even desired) something like that, but now that they've actually invented it on the test server I can't wait for the change to go live... :P

A million rerolled DK's on /trade:
"Gief 5k gold for mount PLZZZZZ"

I'm really excited about the DK restriction being lifted. Having several friends that moved to different servers and not having the money at hand to move a character of mine with them, I'll be able to start a DK and make em a Psuedo-main when I level the toon I started there to talk to em and quest. Can't wait that's gonna be awesome to run around with the pals again :D
booyah Dec 22nd 2008 8:40AM
Is that confirmed? I would like to start a DK on another realm as well. Are there any restrictions?
Tural Dec 22nd 2008 9:07AM
It's in the patch notes, the very first point on them, to be specific.
"Players may now create death knights on any realm once they reach level 55. "
They're only subject to normal restrictions (You can't create a Horde DK on a PVP server you have Alliance characters on, etc), otherwise, you're free to make a DK on any realm.

I'm excited about this as well. A while ago my mom transferred to another server with her main (traitor!) and keeps nagging me to level the 25 hunter alt I made there. Unfortunately the prospect of STV YET AGAIN is so very, very unappealing. Being able to start at 55 will be very nice.
Ozmaranth Dec 22nd 2008 10:27AM
Agreed completely. I have several friends on different servers that i've wanted to play with for a long time. Problem's always been that they are high level, and i'd have to roll from scratch to eventually play on the same level as them. Nice thing about the dk restrictions being lifted is that i'll only have to grind 55-80 instead of 1-80.

@Liquoid I'm really glad I don't raid with people like you.
Damage meters are for idiots.
You sound like you would prefer to be at the top dps meters and not down a boss, then to be in the middle of the meters and down the boss ;(
h8rain Dec 22nd 2008 8:17AM
I am hoping bear tanks will be "fixed" with the changes they are making. They sound pretty good, so we shall see how it pans out when it goes live.

Except that really really small (game changing) nerf to our main healing spell.
But you're shadow, so...

WHAA? Circle of Healing is getting a 6 second cooldown! That's a seriously major change! One that will affect a number of fights and will again make Resto shammies the ultra-valuable KINGS of AoE heal!
IMO they need to at least up the coefficient or the base healing of the spell to compensate!...
