I think people are overthinking loot a lot after the expac. You have to have some give (at least 1 armor class) to reasonably gear your caster plate and mail classes right now. There is no reason a dps warrior shouldn't wear mail, or a holy pally shouldn't. No reason a resto druid shouldn't wear cloth, or a shammy leather.Blizzard intentionally made it so loot is usable by a lot more people. Don't stymie that.Cloth classes *all* have some sort of magical armor that non cloth classes don't have. So yes, they can't roll on leather, but the cloth they wear is cloth + their magical protective whatever.

What in the holy hell are you talking about? What cloth wearer gets a special magical armor type? The only item my warlock can equip that leather/mail/plate wearers could likely not use would be his wand. There aren't any special items, outside of the normal weapon specializations, that cloth wearers can wear and others cannot, and therefore, you are an idiot. If on the other hand, you are referring to some sort of spell, also known as a buff, then you are STILL an idiot for two different reasons. Reason 1: These buffs you mention are equated by other classes' own buffs. Reason 2: People aren't complaining about leather wearers rolling on cloth because of the armor values, they are just talking about pure availability of items.I am not explaining this because I care about this argument though, I am explaining it because your statement was so full of nonsensical fail, it actually hurt my brain. I personally have never had an issue in my guild of loot drama, especially of this sort. It isn't like you couldn't just run the place again and get the item later anyway ...
Wait, what? This isn't about "armor", it's about loot availability. For example - a boomkin can roll on +spell dmg bracers in both the leather and cloth varieties, while mages, locks and spriests can only roll on the cloth. They physically can't equip the leather bracers. Therefore, the boomkin has twice as many chances to upgrade that item slot. If the cloth bracers drop off one boss, the boomkin wins, and then the leather bracers drop off the next, either the boomkin gets them or they go to waste (or to the eleshammy cause it sounds like they're pretty hard up for gear atm).

Because cloth on druids isn't accentuated by spell buffs to prevent damage, it is less good for them then the associated leather, so they roll on it less often. The mage will have frost or fire armor, the lock fel armor. Tree or boomchicken will have prayers and maybe the autoroots buff up, which probably won't work anyhow on the mobs that trigger it.You all were frankly asses in this thread, and you know it.Blizzard designed their items with the expectation that people would wear the armor classes below the "max armor class" as well. That's their *stated* position on the rarity of int plate (they expect you to be in shammy stuff sometimes).

Kate said "Therefore, the boomkin has twice as many chances to upgrade that item slot".No, the boomkin has 1.3 times as many as the clothie who cares about spirit. (They're not going to roll on stuff that doesn't) if you don't make an artificial roll restriction. The holy pally has 1.25 times as many as the shaman who cares about int. However if you *take away* organizationally their chance to roll on the lower armor items, then you leave the holy pally with 25% the number of items they can roll on compared to the shaman and druid. There are 3 type of plate, str, def and int plate, and most if it is str and def plate. So while there is 1 plate on each boss in each table for the most part, only about 20-25% fit the pally. You get a similar effect with the boomkin. They only match about 40% or so of dropped gear (why there is so much feral gear IDK), so if you make it so they can't roll on cloth, they get to roll on 40% of the number of things that clothies can.You knew your class was getting left out of some armor when you started this game. I don't think you should get artificial rules to make you have an gearing advantage over the boomkin (who will gear *less* quickly than you if you restrict their rolls) --TreasonCaster armor is relatively rare. It's always been assumed caster classes would use lower armor when better in slot and would get the highest level armor they could when they got around to it. Until patch 3.0.2, the best holy pally gear for 1/3 of the slots (outside tier 6/swp pieces) was shammy mail.
