DKP really does solve this. People don't bid a lot on everything when blowing all their points on some offspec items means they can't get anything else for a couple weeks. It even keeps the cross-armor type looting down somewhat. Paladins aren't going to bid on cloth thats bad for them when the equivalent plate will always have less competition (and thus cost less in a bid based DKP system), unless the item is really really good for them.In 25s, DKP or a similar system is the way to go. In 10s... the groups are so much smaller and loot flows so freely that it should just be about common sense and remembering that an upgrade for your fellow raiders is good for you because it helps the raid.

This. We use exactly this system. But purple fever is hard to beat. I did my first naxx10 on Friday, and was severly tempted to roll on everything cloth. I didn't, but did end up rolling on a shoulder piece that was identical to the T7 shoulders, which i happened to win later. Do I feel like an ass? Yes. However, at least I can disenchant it and give the crystal to the guild, or (which I will do) hold on to the non-T7 piece in case I need to swap things out. I also passed on half a dozen things that were nice but were really dps caster gear, not healer gear. Anyway people just need to remember this is kara, basically. We'll be running naxx10 for a long long time I am guessing. Don't be stupid and waste your opportunity with a guild that clears it every week.
