WoW Insider Show Episode 69: Azeroth's Next Top Models
This week on the podcast we welcomed back BRK to talk about some things that didn't involve Hunters, including (but not limited to) Winter's Veil and how to take down heroic Loken, and Amanda Dean also joined us to talk about why she's Scrooge-y on the Winter's Veil stuff (I am too, though I am excited about the presents we're going to get on Thursday) and why people may or may not be civil when PuGging. And we talked about the Sons of Hodir quest chain, answered some questions from the email, and just had a great time talking about World of Warcraft. It was a nice, relaxed show, and hopefully you'll enjoy it -- you can listen below, or use one of the myriad ways that we have to listen, including subscribing to the show in iTunes (and reviewing us if you do head over there -- some of the reviews on our listing are a little old).
We'll be back next weekend after the holiday, and if you are handy with a mic and a computer, we've got a little favor to ask after the break -- check it out if you want to try to get your voice on our show.

As I said during the show this week, we haven't really had an intro since we moved over to Ustream -- it's just me introducing the show and the guests when we start. And I often forget to do shoutouts as well: even though we like recognizing the folks who listen, it's tough to fit that in and keep it interesting. So we're going to try combining them both by letting you, our listeners, introduce the start of the show every week.
If you're interested, we're asking you to put together a short (less than :30 is a good start, though as long as it's interesting it, can be any length) introduction -- you can call out yourself, your characters, your guild, or anything else, and then finish with introducing me and kicking off the show. It can be as simple as:
"Hey everybody this is Joe -- I play Legalas on Thunderhorn. Shout out to my guild And Two Stealthed Rogues for finishing off 10 man Naxx last week, and grats to Holypriester on the new robe! And now, here's Mike Schramm and the Turpster, it's time for the WoW Insider Show!"
Or as complicated as you want -- the more creative/funny/interesting the better. Save it out to an .mp3 file (one more reason to keep it short), and email it over to us at theshow@wow.com, and you might hear it before next week's show. Here's a quick guide to recording an mp3 file, though of course if you know more about putting audio together, you're free to include music, sound effects, or whatever you like. And of course, since we try to keep the show as clean as possible, keep the offensive stuff out (though you are free to insult Paladins whenever you like).
We'll see how it works -- if no one sends us any audio, we'll think of something else, but this seems like it could be a fun way to get you guys on the show and get things rolling with a little more style. We look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Amanda is ignorant. I cant stand her. Seriously, do not have her on again.
nbcaffeine Dec 22nd 2008 3:49PM
^^^ This
I was glad when she stopped appearing regularly, and was sad to see her here again. I won't listen to this episode, despite the fact that the always excellent BRK is on. Please have Chase Christian, Matt Rossi, or even John Paracelli on more often. Oh, and much more Turp!
Kody Dec 22nd 2008 4:26PM
Agreed, she completely ruined the show for me and I believe everyone in the live chat channel agreed. This was my first encounter with her and I sincerely hope it's my last.
Nesta Dec 22nd 2008 6:47PM
Agreed, as always. I've been against having Amanda Dean on the show since I first heard her. Than again having BRK on the same show with her is an absolute nightmare for me because I can't really stand him either. But that seems to be a less popular opinion in this case.
Naix Dec 23rd 2008 11:08AM
I agree totally. Amanda Dean is the downer of the whole show. Amanda just brought the whole show to a halt with her negativity. Try less Bah Humbug, elitist attitude, and correcting. Try more Christmas spirit, optimist attitude, and understanding.

I would like to request that she doesn't even write for WI anymore.
Morhos Dec 22nd 2008 4:12PM
Amanda "the Merrymaker" - ha! She complains about everything!
Chuddy Dec 22nd 2008 4:27PM
More of matt rossi please. It's been nice seeing him write more as of late. He puts such energy into his writing and you can tell he actually...well at least his writing comes across as such...cares about what he writes about.

I think you guys missed the boat on the torture quests and such.
I believe that Blizzard wants a darker feel to this expansion. In BC there was no sense of urgency. We were told we were not prepared, but for most people, the lore "end bosses" were just out there in limbo.
Between the torture and depressing quests, Blizzard wants to make us feel the desperation and urgency, that we need to deal with Arthas and deal with him now.

I agree with most of the above posters. Amanda is arrogant, rude and not that impressive. After listening to her talk and then reading her post about being "offended" by the lame joke again, her hypocrisy is through the roof.
She's terrible and doesn't contribute much to the conversation. Please have her on less. Thanks.

After expressing my VIEWS in chat I was also banned. Sounds like a great way to attract people to your show when you have such a pessimistic, ignorant guest. She definitely ruined it.
Regarding the whole "I was upset because someone in game didnt think I was a real person"
Seriously who cares??? Just because someone made a rude joke towards you, you get all huffy? I hope this made you realize that you cant hide from everyone behind that keyboard of yours.
And yes, the joke he made WAS funny. My girlfriend as well as her friends agreed.
Tumleren Dec 22nd 2008 8:36PM
I think only 1 person got kicked/banned and that was someone spamming :
(this is what it looked like in Ustream)
FAT FAT FAT FAT FAT FAT FAT FAT FAT FAT FAT
etc.
Please tell us what you wrote, and maybe that'll make us agree with you
Tumleren Dec 22nd 2008 8:38PM
And that was supposed to say:
FAT [censored] FAT [censored] FAT [censored] FAT [censored] FAT [censored] FAT [censored] FAT [censored] FAT [censored] FAT [censored] FAT [censored]
etc.
And btw - Not everyone thinks the same jokes are funny. I can make a joke about muslims, and they might not like it. I can make a joke about you, and you may not like it. No-one decides what's funny or not.
No-one

Hmmm... I have suddenly become a hater of Amanda Dean. She came off as mean, rude, and arrogant...
Please Mike... Less Amanda... More Others.
Smurk Dec 22nd 2008 5:29PM
I can't believe that two out of three of you though D.H.E.T.A was pronounced "DEE-thuh". It's not spelled that way, and the joke is clearly that it rhymes with P.E.T.A.!
zappo Dec 22nd 2008 9:06PM
Man, I never listened to this broadcast but I did after all this "I hate Amanda Dean" stuff. And now I have to say I actually like her. Disappointing. Go Amanda! :p
Chilblain Dec 23rd 2008 3:24AM
Bring back Matticus, John Patricelli, Christian Belt, and Phaelia.
Gank Amanda Dean.
Dominace Dec 23rd 2008 7:11AM
Dear god, so much hate.
FireStar Dec 23rd 2008 10:53AM
^^
Lots of hate and intolerance in the world. Where's the love?
Corrytrevor Dec 23rd 2008 10:46AM
I stopped listening when she said she despises Christmas.
