Yet another extended maintenance extension

The login screen is now announcing another extension to today's maintenance, with servers expected to be down until 1 PM this afternoon. Is that really a surprise? It shouldn't be! When they say maintenance ends at 11 am, they really mean 1 pm. Period. End of story.You'll probably be doing the same thing we are for those additional two hours: Wasting time at WoW Insider. We'll be sure to keep you updated, whether realms come up early or maintenance gets another extension. Keep an eye on the site, and we'll keep an eye out for you, and thanks to everyone who did the same for us and wrote into our tipline!

You're right. You deserve better. I suggest that you first quit your lousy job that's only giving you a week off, second, quit the lousy MMO that goes down for maintenance a whole 10 hours out of every 168, then third, using all the free time you've gained from no longer working or playing WoW, you design an MMO that never crashes, goes down, or needs maintenance. GG you!

I'm with Adam. Nobody thinks you're smart or funny when you sarcastically put down someone who is, right or wrong, bitching about Blizzard customer service. You may be craving some form of recognition for your intolerance of other people's opinions, but newsflash: you only accomplish the triple fail of non-funny, non-witty, non-constructive worthless comment.

Actually, Tanglebones, 10 hours out of every 168 is astoundingly poor uptime, especially for such a high-revenue paid service.
While Blizzard doesn't exactly release information on what they do during this downtime, we can assume it's mainly database maintenance/diagnostics.
This seems to be an inherently slow process, but there are definitely ways of speeding things up by way of automation and optimization, if only Blizzard would throw the money at it. Of course, if ~10 million people are willing to accept such long downtimes, there's no reason for Blizzard to lose revenue on speeding things up.

Gather round, ladies and gents. We have found the one who is responsible for this extended maintenance and he is me! True, true, i should have used my awesome power of causing extended maintenance for good, and not evil, and so i am justly ready to face the consequences of my actions. I am ready to be burned at the stake now please.
Oh, but wait, before you light those fires, perhaps consider that you're going on the word or someone who is willing to "hate" a complete stranger after reading a few lines of text...
But seriously though, whether or not i would "take anything" is quite beside the point. I'm assuming by your posting on here that you also play WoW? Therefore you also "take" 10 hours of downtime a week. Or do you do something constructive with those 10 hours? Like calling up Blizz customer support to let them know that 10 hours of downtime is not acceptable? Seriously. I think they know that extended maintenance upsets a lot of people. I rather suspect that they actually are working on the problem.

Do you want extended maintenance or to come back in game with everything screwed up and not be able to play right?
Because I guarantee if you came back to the latter you'd be pissed off and ask blizzard why they didn't extend maintenance to fix the problems. Then you'd probably be more pissed off about the servers being up and then back down than you are about there being extended maintenance in the first place.
Morons like you who are pissed off no matter what happens need to quit the game. If you thought things through further than your own selfish ideal of perfection you're expecting of an MMO you'd see this.

Seriously people, go play a game that isn't updated or serviced at all, go play guildwars perhaps. You'll get 100% uptime of complete garbage.

I agree with both Tanglebones and Adam. Although, we shouldn't be complaining about how Blizzard is extending downtime ,because the servers have been down for a longer period of time then this. Way longer. But do we not pay them $15 a month to fix such problems? I say Blizzard should hire more mechanics.

Why does this no longer surprise me anymore? I think I was actually more surprised a few weeks ago when it was just a rolling restart... WTB more of those.

Patch Day for Noobs.
Did they take the PTR down? If no, no patch.
When you login, does it immediately launch the updater? If no, no patch.
If you launch the updater manually, does it download anything? If no, no patch.
Keep these handy little notes for next Tuesday.
