Keep in mind that while you need 8-9% hit for your melee, it's probably good to have a bit more to make sure your spells are hitting as well.

What spells? They changed practically everything we use over to melee hit with 3.0. I don't think the reduced miss chance on exorcism is worth the item points, personally.

Not true vexis58. While they merged +spell hit with +hit, Paladins still cast spells, and the amount if +hit required is different for being hit capped with 2h weapon vs. casting a spell. If you study a combat log for a few minutes you see that many of our abilities are still from the Holy spell school. I am hit capped for 2h, but still miss occasionally with my spells. It takes more +hit to be hit capped for your spells including consecration, judgements, seal of command/martyr/blood, etc.

Actually the only spells that use "spell hit rating" in a ret pally's arsenal is exorcism/holy wrath/consecration (And only the first consecration tick IIRC). Judgements/seals are calculated as melee hit.
