Breakfast Topic: Winter Veil Merrymaking

But regardless, life goes on, and here it is the morning after. I'm sort of wondering, then, how many people made time to get a few winter veil traditions in as well. I admit, for my part, first thing in the morning I logged onto WoW, ran to Ironforge, and checked out what Greatfather Winter bought for me. Then I proceeded to run around with my crashing thrashing racer until I got 25 crashes and the Merrymaker title. Which I am not using because my character is a Death Knight. Death Knights do not... make merry. We're dark. And angsty. But we also like Violet Proto-Drakes, so what can we do?
Did anyone else make time to log on and get a little Merrymaking going? Did you just stick to more achievement gathering, or are you making your own WoW Winter Veil traditions?

Forgot to say, started soloing some low level instances for the achievements

But Merrymaker Deathslayer would be so cool. :)

I did the achievement and am using the title when I run Battlegrounds. I can only imagine the anger when you get killed by someone in a pink tabard and a merrymaker title before their name. If I only had the "Taunt Flag" that would make it all the more sweet!

So, for those lucky enough to have today off, I'm sort of wondering if anyone's awake yet to read this topic.
ORLY?
12am here so IDK how much eggnog you've been drinking.

I'm betting on nobody else being around/awake, and running into Orgrimmar to get my Ragefire Chasm and Fishing Diplomat achievements... and maybe even Old Crafty.
If you've got your Merrymaker title, I suppose you got your 50 HKs as the gnome from the winter wondervolt. How did that go?

Took a while, had a lot of bad luck in BGs (rogues stunning me then killing me before I could get a single HK)
Tried Wintergrasp, couldn't be bothered waiting 2 hours for the next battle so went to Strand of the ancients.
Here I got 30 kills in 1 match, I recommend this battleground as you can simply hide in the turrets or jump on someone elses siege vehicle and get kills without being hurt.

Sounds like a good strategy, thanks for sharing. The PvP aspect of the holiday achievements is probably going to keep me from getting my violet proto-drake in the end - PvP just kind of makes me unhappy - but it's good to know there's a better option if I decide to go for it.

It's not so bad this time around. I was a little concerned as a Feral Druid. My forms overwrite the Gnome costume. It wasn't too terrible, though. I got mine by healing in AV, but I hear that a turret in Wintergrasp or SotA is a good option, too.
So if you're inclined to do the rest of the holiday achievements and take a shot at the Proto-Drake, take the time and just grind it out. It actually took me longer to get the holiday hat than it did to finish 50 HK's.
All of the PvP achievements in Children's Week are what have me worried now.

Log on at 11 my time on 25th (worked till late the day before) opened my gifts (last time i logged off in front of the tree to be able to open them first time) and 10 minutes later i am a MerryMaker... :P

50 HKs was pretty funny. It looks like not even Horde hates gnomes. Everyone was hunting me down. There even was 2 loladins who tried to take me down in WG for like 10min (I am resto + 2x tenacity) and I bet it was becouse of the gnome stuff
(never saw so much trying)

I logged on early and finished my Merrymaker achievement first. My family didn't do anything for Christmas this year since no one wanted to drive. My SO had to work all day so I spent my Christmas farming gold and buying him insane amounts of gear, enchants, consumables, and fun toys. I fell short of 5k g so I couldn't get his epic flyer in time. But it was still awesome, we sat on a hovering platform outside Dalaran and had cake and wine while he opened his presents. Favorite ones were the Train Set and his Orb of Deception.
It was still about 4.2k g altogether. Totally worth it though, he still won't stop talking about how epic a present it was, haha. New tradition hopefully, he owes me next year!

No recession in Northrend! How wonderful to be so extravagant and shower your Beloved with gifts. Great way to start a tradition.
Menno Dec 26th 2008 8:40AM
The best time to use the Merrymaker title is when you're not bringing joy.
My main is a shadowpriest, and I'll most likely use the title only during pvp/ganking.
Merrymaker Menno has a nice ring to it, especially when I'm melting face.

Saw a lot of Merrymaker corpses in IF when we stopped a Horde Bear run cold, so i think a lot of people have the same idea
James Dec 26th 2008 8:41AM
I was going to get Merrymaker, but then the Fa la la la la Orgi'la one put me off as you have to do quests to unlock 'Bomb them Again!'. Also, I have really low cooking.
Aerei Dec 26th 2008 8:43AM
Just need the PVP part, and very much dreading it.
Balius Dec 26th 2008 4:53PM
It's all I need on my rogue, but I may wind up missing it if I can't muster up the minimum enthusiasm for BGs by then.
Corinth Jan 3rd 2009 6:46PM
Logged on at 9 am opened presents in IF crashed 25 times and became Merrymaker Corinth... if only I had done all of Brewfest and Halloween.
