Going to Northrend for the holidays

Flight Paths and Exploration
New lands, new things to see, new places and ways to get lost! Below are our simple guides to the flight paths in many of the zones in the new continent, as well as directions to the new capital, the mage city of Dalaran.
- Howling Fjord, Borean Tundra, and Dragonblight: Alliance / Horde
- Flight paths in the Grizzly Hills
- Flight paths in Zul'Drak
- Flight paths in Sholazar Basin
- Flight paths in Storm Peaks
- How to get to Dalaran
Every player is likely familiar with the reputation system by now, but Wrath of the Lich King's factions have received a little bit of streamlining. At the same time, a few of the factions are a little harder to find, or figure out your first time seeing them. Listed below are our guides to these reputations.
- An overview of reputation in Wrath
- The Oracles and the Frenzyheart Tribe
- The Sons of Hodir
- The daily quests of the Kalu'ak
PvP hasn't quite hit its stride yet in Wrath of the Lich King with the new arena season having only begun a week ago, but the new outdoor PvP zone Wintergrasp is attracting players of many different playstyles. It has a lot to offer, and you can find much of it in our guides below along with tips for other aspects of Wrath PvP.
- Wintergrasp overview
- The battle for Wintergrasp
- Honor in Wrath
- Honor and arena gear in Wrath
- Gearing up for the arena
Did you reroll for Christmas, or are you planning to level a Death Knight as an alt? There's a lot you can learn about this new class, and a lot you should learn! Listed below are the basics, and if you're looking for more information our weekly Death Knight column Lichborne and our full Death Knight info page are great places to look.
- Basic talent builds for a new Death Knight
- Tanking as a Death Knight
- Statistics primer
- Capping your Death Knight's defense
- Gear upgrades in the Northrend newbie zones
- Reputation rewards for Death Knights
This is all likely a bit of an information overload if you're first stepping into Northrend (or first rolling your Death Knight), but we have a lot of resources we've been working on for you to use throughout your adventures. Our various class columns are jam packed full of information, and we also have a couple of series running: Wrath Dailies and Wrath 101. The former is, of course, walkthroughs for the various daily quests in Northrend, and the latter are simple guides to just about everything you can imagine. Both are works in progress, but already full of great stuff!
We have all of those guides gathered up in one little place, if you'd like. A full page of Wrath guides, oh boy! Oh joy! Okay, it's not that exciting, but it sure is convenient, isn't it?

First? Nice. Everyone must still be recovering... Good guide! Does it include where to find all the profession trainers?

"Good guide! Does it include..."
The second kind of belies the first, sir. It's usually helpful to read the guide before you declare it "good".

"A fair portion of our readership is only now getting Wrath of the Lich King installed on their computer..."
Really? I can't imagine anyone who has a level 70 would be able to wait a month and a half to get this game for Christmas. Unless, they were super causal, which probably means that don't have a level 70, and wouldn't really need Wrath asap.

I imagine that a relatively large percentage of players don't have the disposable income to buy Wrath on their own, and have had to wait for Christmas in order to get the expansion.

Not to mention, of course, the percentage of players who just received WOW itself yesterday, and are only just starting to play the game. Granted that they don't have a *need* to install Wrath right away - but that doesn't mean they won't be installing it.

I had a level 70 pre-WotLK. I installed it ASAP and have played just about every day since. My level 70 is now 71.
Not everyone plays this game the same way.

I definitely waited for Christmas for the game. Both for the first reason Chris Anthony stated (I don't make much money.), and because I'd asked for it for a gift when it was released but I asked for the Collector's Edition.
That box is impressive. I was shocked when I saw it, but I wanted that so I waited for it.
I had my Paladin at 70 for months before LK. In that time I started a priest and got him to 30 for the time being, took a 3 month break from the game, and then came back to install the trial WotLK, make a DK and roll it over to my permanent account. I've played for 2 years on 3 different servers on both factions. I have multiple 70s, but I would call myself casual not for the reason you think. It's not because of how much time I spend on the game. It's because of what I choose to do with my time in the game. I explore, start alts, run lowbies through stuff for free, get into 5 mans when I can and if I'm bored I'll do dailies and become obsessive about achieving titles. (I will have Merrymaker dammit!) I became a tank again for a few days just for that stupid hat and now my 71 paladin is logged in at BEM patiently waiting to be logged into so I can ask for help getting Ogri'la off the ground.

A significant portion of WoW players are children who wouldn't buy a $50 expansion pack on their own.
SBKT Dec 26th 2008 1:38PM
A large portion, quite a few exes too quit, because they didn't even get the expansion either..
Kind of a sad occasion.
No, I'm not abusive or anything. If you want, I'll let you come and take all sides of the story too, IRL or online. Your choice.
