WoW Moviewatch: The Craft of War: BLIND
Let's take a small break from the holiday festivities for something absolutely spectacular. Percula posted The Craft of War: BLIND on Vimeo, claiming that it's only the second creative work he's ever publically shared. I can't imagine what reams of work he must have privately, because I found this movie to be incredibly astounding.
There's no dialogue, but BLIND didn't need it. You can imagine a storyline, filling in the holes from the tropes and memes as you watch an expert assassin working her way through Stormwind. This is some of the best action footage I've seen from WoW graphics. The movements are believable and complex, the fights are well paced. Percula says if the response is postiive enough, he'll follow-up with more. I can't imagine anything but postive response to this movie. Even the soundtrack was spot-on, expertly pacing the aerobatics and ninja skills. Definitely take the time to check out BLIND, and let Percula know what you think. We'd really like to see more.

Inspiration to finally level my rogue !
And I loved the music!

Absolutely brilliant...I don't watch many of these coz..well...there crap...but this one was pro.
Hope you make more of these.
And the music was gud!
Better than the usual, deep war drums with heroic spikes music everyone feels they have to put in. It was different and imo it's what really set this off for me.
Well done!

For some reason this feels like the old movies and such from the Thief series, could be wrong but it feels the same
killmenext Dec 26th 2008 6:50PM
good shit. very nicely done. would love to see more.

In addition to the godawful music, some of the physics were off. Like how both assassins slide several body lengths after exchanging blows at around 3:30... It's like the ground and their boots have a layer of slick ice on them.Weird.

/facepalm
You must be fun to watch Die-Hard with.

I've ended arguments using PubMed so... yeah, don't take me to movies. LOL
I tend to ruin them, though I try very hard not to.

I love the look Prestor had... she looked innocent, but when all the guards and Matthias were recovering, she let loose her wings and showed her evil side, only to end it with a "Shh" motion with her finger.
Simply awesome! Need to see more!

Y'all are nuts. The video was awesome beyond words, and I thought the music fit in well. Appropriate lyrically, and the beat fit the action on the screen. As the tone of the music shifted, the action on-screen accelerated and slowed appropriately.
In the words of a troll.... BEST MOVIE EVAR!!11!!!!1!!one!11!!

Ah, the ultimate and never-ending challenge which all machinima artists must eventually face... That of actually using good music that fits their video.
This one failed miserably.
Regardless, the production quality was magnificent.
A+ for video.
D- for audio.

It's pretty refreshing to see WoW's models being put through new paces. Really infuses them with new life and shows just how static and boring the same old in-game animations really are.
It's pretty obvious that the creator is at the very least an animation professional behind a pseudonym...or at least I'm having a VERY hard time believing that this is hobbyist's work (no offense meant to hobbyists!).
Thanks, Percula, for taking the time to make something like this. I think you knew people would love it...and they do. And I do. It's really a beautiful piece of work. :) Thanks again (and oh god, please make more!).

wow, just wow...
and unlike many commenters... i liked the music as well
Dahrken Dec 26th 2008 9:19PM
I loved it, regardless of what people have said about the music I think it fit; very playful.
Nicely made little clip that.
DataThief Dec 27th 2008 1:29AM
If your in a animation class, this will get you a A. If your not you need to change jobs now, you have some major talent in animation. Beautiful to watch and the music was fine.
Sam Dec 26th 2008 9:47PM
jeez, am i the only one here that liked the music? I mean honestly i don't think any of you would have liked the music unless it was some $%@! song from Linkin Park or some other retarded band that you could recognize.
I mean honestly from a creative stand point this music was epic and fit the pace and the actions on screen. Just cause its foreign to you doesn't mean its awful, give something else a try and stop complaining about a problem that doesn't exist.
This movie was amazing start to finish. 10/10
joerendous Dec 26th 2008 9:58PM
i liked the music. as Dahrken said, "very playful."
miko Dec 26th 2008 10:00PM
i feel like the little kid on the tricycle in The Incredibles
that was AWESOME!
Oz Dec 26th 2008 10:32PM
That was, simply put, amazing.
I must tell you, if I heard that song on the radio, I would have likely changed the channel, but the way it matched the ebb and flow of the action was absolutely incredible. Brilliant work pacing the action of the animation with the feel of the music.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would have to give this a 12.
carldudut Dec 26th 2008 11:27PM
this movie way better than the Veteran Wrath Gate cinematic from WoW Lich King, every sprite and texture all synchronize perfectly. There is no blur or dead sprite or texture. From the music you use is a famous Japanese Singer. So I think the maker are asian or western that like asian culture.
Lemons Dec 26th 2008 11:55PM
I didn't even know anything like that was possible until now, I mean holy shit! That was amazing!
