In the past week I have been leveling my Mage to 80 (Which I just hit moments ago thank you very much) a bit more seriously than I had been. I started out at level 75 this week and within that short amount of time I have gotten enough to pay for ALL of my training up till 80, to pay for all my profession training up to their respective levels, buy Cold Weather Training, and buy a whole load of Snowballs to save for the non Winters Veil Months. For the times I have gone into Instances I have bought potions, elixirs and made my own foods. I have probably spent a good 2-3k just on everything there.
Now, as I have finished hitting 80, and looting all the way there, I have about 2k worth of mats for the AH from DEing my greens and blues that either were replaced or I didn't need. I also have a good thousand golds worth of Cooking Materials and other odds and ends that I am about to put on the AH.
As for the gold that I have looted and gained from Questing, I am up to a little over 2k in Gold on my person.
LOOTING is IMPORTANT!

I agree with you.
A guildmate and I just leaves the loot on FFA when we're questing around and lets me loot everything because "it's a waste of time". I'm a "hardcore" player with two eighties that bankroll my alts, and I still loot every kill. Looting and selling greys (easily done with an addon like AutoProfit) adds up to a LOT of money. I spent three hours questing on my Paladin in Nagrand and made over 50g from just selling greys. That MORE than covers the cost of repairs, food, drink, etc. I don't have any professions on that character, and went from having 49g when I stepped through the Dark Portal to almost 500g when I shipped off to Northrend. I'd wager a guess and say that most of that comes from looting.
Plus, it's awfully nice to do for skinners, which is something two of my alts do. :D

That sentence is so supposed to read "A guildmate just leaves..." Yay for replying to Wowinsider posts at 7AM >.
