In addition to auctioneer, there are several addons that will tell you the vendor price of an item. I believe one of these is included in Auctioneer's advanced version (now known as auctioneer complete).Informant.If you turn off auctioneer on your non-bank alts, at least leave that part on. It really helps when you're trying to decide which grey to destroy. Sometimes you'll even have a grey that is worth more than a green (and if you've been scanning enough with auctioneer, you'll be able to be roughly accurate in that). Informat can really help your earning power.I keep a couple of alts around dedicated to managing auctions and excess inventory - all of them with large bags and all their bank bag slots bought. I send mats, items to auction, and items to disenchant between them.Unlike the blogger, I do keep auctioneer active on all my toons. That added memory doesn't slow down play - it just slows down loading into the game. I keep it active so I can have access to the data on item values at any time.Even on a tank, you can level and tank all the way up on quest-gear. Everything else can be auctioned or disenchanted for the twink community. Some people I know vendor greens and even blues. That's a big waste of potential income. Even for junk items, disenchanting is a better choice. If you don't have an alt with high enchanting, make one - I have an alt who's only purpose is to stand next to the mail box in Thunder bluff (lowest lag horde city - and short walk between key points) and d/e things, then auction the mats. If you don't have the time for that, make friends with someone who does and come to an arrangement. As for instancing... while leveling you're not going there for the gear. You're going there to...:1. Have fun. If you're like me, Maraudon and BRD are fun -because- they're long.2. Learn to play your role in groups.3. Gain faster XP (sometimes instances are faster, sometimes slower - depends on which instance and at what level).4. Complete high XP quests.5. Earn achievements.Don't sweat the gear drops until you're in the high 70s. Just write down the names of the ninja looters so you know who to avoid when you -do- hit the high levels.
