Did they make honor easier to get? Seems like mine has been skyrocketing even though most of my PvP was in relation to the Merrymaker achievement

Yes. Honor rewards are much higher at level 80. Of course, prices for honor items are also much higher, so it balances out. It should be roughly the same amount of effort per item purchased as it was at 70.
