The Queue: Shameless

In today's episode of The Queue, I give our Facebook page another shameless plug. Have you seen it? Yes? Good! Let's move on, then.
Jonny Dale asked...
I seem to remember a post on where to find all the +hit rating gear for casters, but I can't find this anywhere on WoWInsider search or Google. Anyone care to help?
You might be referring to a Spiritual Guidance entry from... oh, three weeks ago? It's our weekly Priest column, and while it's typically slanted for Healing Priests and written by Matt Low, I chip in with some Shadow Priest love when he's busy.
Anyway, to get to the actual question, I wrote a guide for reaching the hit cap a few weeks ago, and that might be what you're talking about. It's written by a Shadow Priest and for Shadow Priests, but pretty much every cloth class will be pulling from the same pool of items to get their +Hit. It's not a bad resource to find the items you might need/want.
Steven asked...
Do you, or your readers, have any suggestions as to how a druid should do the achievement With a Little Helper from My Friends?
Stick to Wintergrasp, and hop in the turrets or a siege vehicle. The turrets are especially awesome if your faction is playing defense. You just fire it wildly into a crowd and get a load of kills. Assuming you have friends that can get you there, this is something you can do at pretty much any level. If you're not in the mood for Wintergrasp, try just healing through a couple rounds of Alterac Valley. Hang out in the back, wear what spell power gear you have, spam Lifebloom or whatever, make other people do the killing for you. It's cheap, but it works!
DBriggs asked...
Will they bring back attunements for the high end game raids?
Probably not the way we're used to seeing them. The devs seem pretty happy with them being mostly gone, and as someone who completed all of the Burning Crusade attunements before they were nerfed/removed, I'm pretty happy with it too. As long as they keep up with the epic questlines that tell us why we're going places, I don't mind a lack of attunements. If they didn't show us why Naxxramas and Kel'thuzad were back, it would've been really annoying. They did, though, so I don't care that there's no attunement. We know why it's there, we know why it's bad. Good enough for me. They didn't bother with that for Obsidian Sanctum, and I consider it a failure on their part... which I may talk about more in the coming days. We'll see.
They're still kept a sense of raid progression going, to some extent. The Malygos encounter doesn't need an attunement exactly, but someone in your raid needs the 'key' from Sapphiron to call Big Blue down. There's still an element of 'you need to do X before Y.'
So no, the devs haven't given any indication of bringing back attunements, and have actually moved further away from them with Wrath. It's more likely they'll refine the current system of indicating progression rather than going back to old school attunements.
mindor asked...
So I finally farmed and saved up the 5000g to but the epic flying mount, but I am not sure where to pick one up. Any help?
Head on over to Shadowmoon Valley. If you're Alliance, you want to go to Wildhammer Stronghold. If you're Horde, Shadowmoon Village is what you want.

I just recently got the expansion, and I'm struck with a question on engineering.
Is there a new set of transporter trinkets for the gnomish/goblin persuasions in Northrend, or in the process of being added? I remember hearing something about them, but I can't recall any details.
Thanks!
Malkavos Dec 28th 2008 5:13PM
At this point, there aren't any Engineering Teleporters, and I don't know whether there will be or not. The only really engineering themed locations are in Storm Peaks, which is too close to Dalaran to really need a teleporter. For me, the most inconvenient location in Northrend is probably Borean Tundra, and even then, it's not that bad. I just don't know where they would PUT a teleporter if they decided to make one.
Saithir Dec 28th 2008 7:00PM
Well, there is a gnomish teleporter in Borean Tundra (you even use it for some quests there, though not directly) at Fizzcrank Airstrip.
No idea of a place for the Horde, though.
Electrocuted Dec 29th 2008 12:41AM
There's the quests involving the teleporter in K3. I thought that it might be a place for one.

I got most of my HK's for the Merrymaker achievement by doing Strand of the Ancients. If you're attacking, get in one of the vehicles. If you're defending, get in a turrent. Takes about 20 minutes!
Wolfblitzer Dec 28th 2008 5:52PM
As a feral druid, I simply slapped on my offspec boomkin gear, while still being feral, mind you, and went into AV. I did my best to hang out at the back of the main assault force and managed to get it in 3 AV battles. I'm Merrymaker Wolfblitzer!

Wintergrasp is a great idea but the trick is....
When you die rightclick your BG icon on your mini map and leave BG. You'll be teleported to dalaran where you can get another suit then take the portal back to Wintergrasp. There is no BG sickness like when you afk out of AV so you can do it as often as needed.

wow. the name 'wolfblitzer' for the win. seriously amazing. rofl.

There are also handy places in Dalaran, Sholazar Basin, and even K3 (I think) to pick up the Cold weather Flying & Epic Flying skills as well.
AyaJulia Dec 28th 2008 4:32PM
Good info here, but you do still need to go to Shadowmoon to pick up an actual mount unless you've got already got one laying around (like an achievement or rep reward).

Another fantastic resource for +hit caster gear is found at Frost is the New Black: http://frostisthenewblack.blogspot.com/2008/12/spell-hit-your-way-into-naxxramas.html. Even though I am a Fury Warrior through and through, I enjoyed this post as very informative, and recommend it to friends / guildmates as a great starting point when they are looking to gear up.
Enjoy!
Turtlehead Dec 28th 2008 8:15PM
That's a good link; hadn't been to that site in forever. Some of the gear is a little iffy though. Since you'll only need the hit in any serious way for raiding, you want to get it on non-core items (ring, trinket, maybe neck & cape) because they're easy to swap just for the boss or core items strong enough to wear in the raid. A leveling hit robe like Turtle may not cut it when you really need it. Very nice robe for entering heroics though.
Mark of the War Prisoner is the standout item. All casters should farm that if they farm any dungeon drop. Leftover BC badges to grab http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34889 might be a good idea. There are stronger Wrath hit rings but they tend to be very expensive or drops. It's good enough if you have nothing else.
And, as always, hit is the most powerful caster stat raid boss...but don't stack 1 hit over 10 spellpower or anything silly like that. :) With the Mark and quest gear and a few other bits, should be able to swap trinkets to get within 30-70 of cap entering Naxx without too much trouble while keeping other stats up and not using hit gems or enchants.
Kick butt Dale! (There's tons of hit/sockets on Naxx gear, so you'll quickly make up any gap you have.)

Does the damage caused by Retribution Aura tag mobs? I'm leveling my pally alt lately, and I'd like to know whether I NEED to drop a Consecration after charging into a mass of mobs, or whether simply letting them kill themselves while wailing away on me will suffice.
Gimia Dec 28th 2008 4:37PM
The damage from ret aura doesn't tag a mob or at least from what I remember while leveling my pally way back when. If you're getting attack by multiple targets just use consecration and the first tick will tag all the ones around you.
Hurode Dec 28th 2008 8:18PM
I don't think it does right now, but I know there are some changes being made to the mechanic in 3.0.8. Maybe someone in the PTR can enlighten us.
Chris Anthony Dec 29th 2008 11:43AM
Passive damage doesn't tag mobs. That includes Retribution Aura, Thorns, a pet set on Defensive, etc. You have to take action in order to tag a mob. (Consecrate works.)
Kakistocracy Dec 28th 2008 4:34PM
I made my Death Knight a blacksmith, but I can't seem to get the quest line to pick a specialty. Is there some trick to it, am I missing something obvious, or is there something wrong that just happens to be low on the totem for Blizzard?
Malkavos Dec 28th 2008 5:19PM
I don't know if it was in patch notes or what, but I'm fairly certain that this is a known issue. On the upside, none of the Northrend equipment requires that you pick a specialty at this point, so if you can manage to level your skill through outlands without it, you'll be alright.
Kakistocracy Dec 28th 2008 5:25PM
I'm not concerned with leveling blacksmithing, but I have seen two or three recipes over the level of 400 that require weaponsmithing.
Further more, for reasons not beyond personal preference, I like to learn everything I have the option of learning, irregardless of my intent to make the item. So when an odd glitch attempts to prevent me from doing so, I seek a rational.

"If they didn't show us why Naxxramas and Kel'thuzad were back, it would've been really annoying."
where did they show you this?
I'm sure I done every quest in northrend and they didn't once mention naxx.
maybe it was just alliance?
