Meeting the goal of 100,000 honorable kills
Tipster Tomek sent us a note about his friend Zbijmnie of EU Vek'nilash, to see if, at level 49, he might be one of the lowest level players to every hit the goal of 100,000 honorable kills for the achievement, but after looking around for a bit, I've found the achievement is pretty commonplace. Because the count actually started way back when HKs were first added to the game (and not when achievements were), lots of people have picked up the seemingly gigantic number already. In fact, here's a level 19 who did it right when he logged into the expansion for the first time (which means he had killed 100,000 people even before patch 3.0.2.Which is kind of a shame -- after Gears of War's "Seriously" achievement (to kill 10,000 enemies) was met, they added a "Seriously 2.0" to the sequel (to kill 100,000 enemies), and that one's been met as well.
So in retrospect, getting 100,000 HKs isn't too hard -- even if you got one every second, it'd really only take you about a day of playtime, which is probably a lot less than a month of realtime, depending on how long you play for and how good a player you are. Maybe in the next achievement update we'll see a really impossible goal for players to work on: 10 million mobs killed? 10,000 instances run? A million players looted in the battlegrounds? There's got to be something in the game that seems impossible for someone crazy out there to work on.

Your life is so pointless that you get a sense of achievement from doing stupid and meaningless things like being first to post "first" on a blog that is updated regularly...
...but you were first, at least you have that going for you.
ChrisGee Dec 29th 2008 9:30PM
I don't know what's worse...
People who say "first!" or the people that complain about it. Honestly how can something like "first!" really upset people so much?
It's hilarious.

its like an achievement, Look ma, I got first post on an article, and all i said was first!
wowinsider should start an achievement system, 10 First!s and you lose 100 points
Lemons Jan 8th 2009 3:38PM
agree w/ ChrisGee..
It is hilarious, honestly.
I wonder what all those ppl would do if some1 didn't post "first" on an article? Where would they vent all that pent up nerd rage?
I'm guessing there would be multiple shootings occurring at exactly the same time in multiple parts of the country.

100 HKs is still alot, but its not crazy to get just takes alot of time.
what acheivement im working on currently that has me grinding for multiple hours is the conqueror achievement, where you get exalted with every pre-bc battleground, so far im only lacking warsong which is FRUSTRATING cause warsong rep can only be gained when you cap a flag. but i just hit revered yesterday so its within grasp, and hopefully i get the rest of the wsg acheivements and work on my Battlemaster title as well XD
Madrox Dec 30th 2008 2:35AM
I just got my Justicar title last week. Your post is a little misleading. You only receive wsg rep when your team caps the flag. I'm sure thats what you meant but it reads a little different. 100,000 hk's is alot of time... I managed to grind every bg rep to exalted and I still only have 40k.

Blizz needs to add in an achievement for joining both the Horde and Alliance on the same character.... just to watch people go nuts trying to figure out how to get it :D

Take note...he's a lvl 49 twink...thus he probably owns 4 ppl at once meaning getting all those kills was ez mode...
Show me a lvl 80 who has 100k hks, that he got while he was level capped and I'll give him some respect.

Wait...has the author of this article gotten 100,000 hks? has he even gotten 10,00 hks? Me thinks no. Honestly, even twinking through the bgs I only got about 500 hks a day, and thats after playing all day long.
100,oo0 hks is a lot...a freaking lot of HKs! Just because there's a few people that have it doesn't mean it's easy it just means they're freaks.
And the fact a lvl 19 got it when he logged on means nothing. A 19 twink who just plays at 19 and never levels up is probably the best way to get it.

I have about 30,000 and I have played a ridiculous amount of PvP -- literally months at 70 where I swore off raiding and just did PvP for two hours a night.
So yeah, the 100,000 mark mostly indicates a player has inordinate amounts of free time and a superhuman ability not to go insane looking at the same four maps over and over and over again.
Relative to other "achievements" there are very few players with 100k.
Gnosh Dec 30th 2008 8:48AM
"two hours a night"
"the 100,000 mark mostly indicates a player has inordinate amounts of free time"
So what you MEAN to say is, "My level of play is perfect, anyone who gets more done in the game than me is obviously a neckbeard"
F0REM4N Dec 29th 2008 6:14PM
I think it is totally unrealistic to expect an honor kill a second. More so if you factor in que times for bgs, where I think clearly the most potential for hks would be.
I think averaging 1 HK per minutes is probably too much. So 100k minutes comes out to about 70 days of play straight. If someone has done it in less time I guess I'm wrong. I really don't see it though.
ryanmourer Dec 29th 2008 6:20PM
Seriously 2.0 isn't the same at all really. It count's all your kills in any mode, not just players.
