This video is AWESOME. Hadn't seen it yet and OMG, makes me wanna reroll a rogue!
Cetha Dec 30th 2008 8:58AM
if only rogues could do half of that I would have way more fun playing one...as it is I think my rogue will end up sitting at 50 forever :(
superbeef Dec 30th 2008 7:53AM
No.... the music is not awesome. the story is not either. the animation.... brilliant. who says you need anything else?
Nekudotayim Dec 30th 2008 11:51AM
The music is perfect. It is perfectly timed with the video, the lyrics and it completes the fast and furious fighting style of her. The choice was really great, a hit, it sounds like the music that her, the player, was listening while playing.
Perfect work.

Woah, I had some english mistakes, my bad, this is not my native language! Sorry! :P
Wistin Dec 30th 2008 8:09AM
It is technically a good piece of work. Story and execution leave much to be desired. I do not like the crouching-tiger kind of fight scenes that have become so prevalent in modern media. It seems everybody does it, so in that aspect it lacks originality.
I didn't like the music either.
I've been made to believe that I am among the minority. Even to the point of that minority being one. It doesn't matter, however, if we all liked the same things, it would be one boring planet.
Gazoo Dec 30th 2008 8:36AM
Technically brilliant.
Not machinima.
This does not use in-game footage, this was rendered using models rendered in a 3D program like Maya and looks a lot like WoW machinima, but it isn't. It is extremely well crafted animation.
Didnt like the music.
onetrueping Dec 30th 2008 6:14PM
It uses the WoW models, skins, and settings. The only difference between this video and mainstream machinima is that this person had the time and patience to use rigging to get smoother animation out of the models, as opposed to using obsolete copies of WoW and WoW Model Viewer to capture existing animation. The level of skill involved is a fair amount higher, and since it still uses game models, skins, and environments, and especially without using anything ELSE, I believe that it does, in fact, fall under the "machinima" title.

The title is a double entendre. It doesn't just refer to the rogue skill.. it's also what the people of stormwind are to Onyxia's plot.
Tiresias Dec 30th 2008 5:35PM
I don't think that word means what you think it means...
A double entendre is a phrase that has an implied sexual innuendo, i.e. the druid walked softly but carried a big stick.
joey Dec 30th 2008 5:43PM
That's not true ::
"In most cases, the first meaning is presumed to be innocent and straightforward, while the second meaning is risqué, inappropriate, or at least ironic, requiring the hearer to have some additional knowledge. "
emphasis on the last part

I'm rerolling a ninja. My rogue could never do this stuff :) The animation was great ..but I didn't like the music choice either. Maybe a music that was more epic/warcraftish to set the mood.
But with that said...I need more down to earth "Phil and Dave" stuff...let the kitties hit the floor!
Kajira Dec 30th 2008 9:12AM
I liked the music. Rogues often take a lot of humor in being sneaky, sneaky bastards, and yes, we often snicker while we're working. The playful tone of it fit well.
If you want dour and serious music, I'm sure the warrior one may appease you. Hard to find one of those cracking a smile.
And I liked the plot. As someone mentioned above, there's more there than just a fight scene. That girl is sent to kill Prestor, probably knowing she's a black dragon. She'd be freeing Stormwind from the dragon's influence.
At the same time, the SI:7 rogue's job IS to protect Stormwind from an assault like this, and does his job effectively. Technically, he wins as the Belf rogue does not complete her mission.
It's a very good byplay, with enough subtlety (ha) for discussion later.

Score out of 10
Story: 2
Music: 4
Animation: 10
Chilblain Dec 30th 2008 9:51AM
The movie is great, but I'd throw that music out the window.
Itanius Dec 30th 2008 9:54AM
The animation is, well... awesome. I'm not a huge fan of machinima, and this video definitely isn't.
It doesn't really have a storyline or plot, as it's more like an excerpt from a larger story. I like the fighting style, even though it's fantastical in style set in a fantastical world; not accurate to World of Warcraft, but plausible in Warcraft itself.
As far as the music goes - I thought it was interesting in itself, but it just didn't fit right with the action and the story that was being told. Had the music been more appropriate, I think this video would be a strong 10/10 instead of a 8.5/10.
Nemesis Dec 30th 2008 10:00AM
I loved it but the music is borderline annoying, just reminds me of kid pop music.
LostOne Dec 30th 2008 10:02AM
I can't see the video. Either the site that hosts it is blocked here at work, or there is a problem on my end. Is there another site I can view this at?
Corrytrevor Dec 30th 2008 10:25AM
Best WoW video I have ever seen.
