Breakfast Topic: The end of 2008

My biggest accomplishment in WoW was discovering the class in which I am having the most fun ever since playing the game in open beta: the Mage. I only wish I had discovered how much I love playing her much sooner, so that I could be farther along in the content on what is my new favorite character. Instead, I am 2 years behind, hanging out in the Outland with all the Death Knights.
The Spousal Unit's biggest accomplishment was mobilizing his guild to get all of the main raiders Amani War Bear mounts during that pre-patch 3.0.2 apathetic period. His biggest regret was spending a ton of gold just before the expansion on his 3rd 70, a Warrior, in order to get him epic flight -- only to roll a Death Knight and never look back. (All 3 of his pre-Wrath 70s are still 70). If he hadn't, he'd already be riding around on a Chopper.
What are your biggest in-game accomplishments and regrets for 2008?

Biggest accomplishment, getting my epic flyer - FINALLY.
Biggest regret, spending so much time on WoW and not seeing some of my friends as much...
So for this reason I'll likely be quitting when my subscription runs out on Jan 31st.

I'm gonna stick with it through all of this expansion's content, but after that... time to get re-acquainted with old friends.

My biggest accomplishment was finally waking up and quitting WoW.
There's a big world out there with lots to do. Blizzard's mastery at manipulating addiction makes you forget that. It's a great game and can be a lot of fun, but things usually progress to a point way beyond that. It gets to a point where you feel you have a time investment you simply can't give up. It's worth naught in the end.
Yes, I do play some of the other great games that are out there. However, my WoW experience allows me to temper my game time without neglecting friends, family, chores, and responsibilities. I'm happier because of it.
Sad part is, you don't know you're consumed with it until you actually do step back and look at things from the outside.

I still read massively.com for my gaming news. When something over there piques my curiosity regarding WoW, I'll flip over here.
I'm a gamer. I like my gaming news.

Grinding mining from 0-375 before stepping into Northrend on my hunter, no matter how badly i wanted to get into the new content.

Puh, there were some big achievments for me this year as I hadn't played WoW really until last spring / summer:
- Making it to Level 70 in July or August (can't remember the exact month)
- Making it to Level 80 two weeks after Wrath release
- Getting my epic flyer
- Getting the first time into a raid
- Finally I found a guild which really felt like "home" to me
- etc.
It's been a funny year. 2009 might not feel as awesome as there won't be so many goals for me left, but the major aims on my list are:
- Raiding successfully with my new guild (we haven't been in Naxx yet)
- Leveling my first twink to 80 (probably an elemental shaman)

cant really consider that i have achieved alot this year.
on the contrary i felt all my work gone to waste
i play a druid and for all my year and a half i have only played a druid and havent leveled any alt (mostly bcoz i hate lvling)
everytime i felt bored, i respecced
and at the end when i took a break, half my friends moved to play alliance on another server and my guild kicked me out bcoz they were a serious raiding guild and i was the only one still under 80.
So far i have been to 5 guilds
2 of them were stolen and disbaned by the gms
the other 3 just disbanded quietly
so much for an achievent.
and now i moved to another country to work and i lost my decent internet connection so now i can only play at 2000ms + lag
so no quests and no raids...
might as well just take a long break for a while

i started long time ago with a human rogue.
at 70 i realized horde wins most of the bgs, so i rolled a belf mage.
at 70 i realized warlock were doing the real big dmg and fun,
so i rolled a lock till 80 and now:
- locks lose easily in dps for almost everyone except rogues.
- mages seem to become real fun and high dps.
so, hope they fix locks soon! :D

"- locks lose easily in dps for almost everyone except rogues."
Blanket statement, lol. I easily win in DPS as a warlock. Your spec is either terrible, your gear is terrible or you have L2P issues. Even if other classes have higher DPS, you shouldn't be whining about it as long as 1. You are playing well. 2. The boss goes down and 3. You had fun doing it.
If you suck at playing a warlock (you're doing less than 1500 DPS in a naxx raid boss), L2P. If the boss doesn't go down, keep trying. If playing a warlock isn't fun, then reroll. And if doing the highest DPS with no challenge whatsoever is your definition of fun, you have bigger problems than learning to play. World of Warcraft isn't called "DPS meter" for a reason.

tnks... u opened my eyes.

My regrets have to be all the stupid thing I've done or said to people without meaning to, and my biggest accomplishment has to be hitting both 70 and 80 on mymain character just this year. And with my uber leet skills I'll predict the future: In exactly 365 and 1/4 days I will post on a breakfast topic that I got my epic flier.

Dinging 70 on my Warrior in March.
Dinging 70 on my Mage in September.
Killing Illidan in October.
mcclary Dec 31st 2008 8:44AM
Getting my resto shaman alt to 70 and discovering the joy of having multiple end game characters (heal and dps).
Seeing T5 content(TK and SSC) and some T6. I am not a raider.
Trying out paladin, mage, and druid to various levels.
Falling in love with my DK.
Maintaining a casual play schedule (read: resisting the addicition)
and of course... 375 fishing

My favorite moment was sneaking into horde cities during the Lunar Festival. (soloed the 50 coins before it was even an accomplishment) :) Not as interesting, by getting both Ambassador and World Explorer titles was nice. (i've only been playing one year)
My biggest disappointment was arena. Spent S3/S4 running into the brick wall that was point-selling and lowbie farming. Never doing that again. My goal for the new year is to kill Arthas and all his little friends >:)

Getting my epic flier yesterday, took me many long, slow dailies but hey, it's done
Getting Exalted with my first reputation, the Kalu'ak, it truly is a nice fishing pole
Get my main to 80 instead of dancing my Death Knight to it, at one point he was a higher level then my Lock
Heroic's baby!
My New Year's thingy is to start raiding, start gold getting, and most importantly, take it slowly because last year I was struggling with balancing RL with WoW
timmy! Dec 31st 2008 9:23AM
not playing my druid exclusively.
Since wrath that's the only toon I've played aside from rolling a DK bank alt and exploring the DK quest line which was pretty interesting.
Morcego Dec 31st 2008 9:42AM
This year was packed with accomplishments:
- Being able to get myself a guaranteed raid spot on one of the top guilds of my server
- Leveling from 70 to 80 in less than 1 week
- Taking 1 week vacation after hitting 80 (7 years without vacations), and not playing WoW for 7 days
- Clearing most of the BC raiding content
My biggest regret (so to speak), was not being able to finish Sunwell before Wrath.
