Magtheridon four-manned with Death Knight tank
One of the blogs I frequest most beyond our own WoW Insider is DeathKnight.info. They have a fun little community on their forums, and their front page highlights most of the really cool stuff that happens to come out of it. The bulk of it is, of course, Death Knight news, but it also shows off a lot of the really random things WoW players do.
Magtheridon, once one of the hardest raid encounters in the game (depending on who you talk to), has been 4-manned by an Unholy Death Knight (who you may have read about previously), a Retribution Paladin, a Restoration Druid and a Holy Priest. If you've done the fight before, you might be thinking to yourself, "That's not possible. You need more people than that just to click the cubes!" Apparently that is not the case. They didn't bother with the cubes, they just healed through the damage.
They healed through a lot more than that, too. They didn't have the ability to stop the heals that the summoners cast, at least not all of them, so they weren't able to kill them at all. The Death Knight tanked all of it: Magtheridon, the summoners, the summoned abyssals, the whole deal.
Completely awesome, and I'm sad that there's no video. With the way WoW scales, I figured it was only a matter of time before Burning Crusade raid content (beyond Karazhan) started getting 5-manned, and I imagine this is only the beginning. I'm looking forward to seeing a Death Knight riding the Ashes of Al'ar. A Death Knight riding a Phoenix is so metal it hurts, and is also somehow appropriate in that weird kind of way.
You can find a few more details right over in the DeathKnight.info forum thread made by hadeniaz, the Death Knight himself.

"so metal it hurts"
I lol'ed.
Azhariel Dec 31st 2008 7:35PM
I was going to say that! Crap.
Meh I'm looking forward to begin 2 or 3 manning OL dungeons, the gear check for 5-manning Kara must be outrageous. Any info about that?
Dalo Jan 1st 2009 12:00AM
A Disc priest and me (hunter) 2 manned all of KARA short of NS. I can solo Midnight.
sonicice Dec 31st 2008 7:39PM
I (hunter) and a feral druid were 2 manning Outland heroics last night with little to no problems. I assume that with regular 80 dungeon blues, 5 manning kara would be a joke.

Kara was 5 manned at level 70 so at 80 I'd imagine most of the fights (apart from Netherspite) could be 2 manned. I'm sure I've heard of paladins and maybe druids soloing the first bosses in there already.

Hardest encounters... O.o Depending on you you talk to... O.o If you are talking to level 69 and lower then... yes.

"once one of the hardest raid encounters in the game"
Alex is referring to the fight in its original form. See http://www.wowwiki.com/Magtheridon_%28tactics%29#Patches_and_hotfixes

I 3 manned it with a BM hunter, prot warrior and holy pally. It's very easy, the doom thing maggy did hit for nearly nothing. Easy money! :D

3 manned it with 3 other players? isn't that 4 manning it? and the doom thingy, you mean blastwave?
jaxson_bateman Dec 31st 2008 9:52PM
Where did he say 3 other players? He said that he 3 manned it, then provided the group composition.

Metal indeed.

Just looking at the stats, Blast Wave, the main killer for this fight pre-Wrath, only does 12.5k damage over 10 secs before resistance. Shadow Bolt Volley from the channelers would have hit for a lot less, and I'd imagine would have been mostly negligible if there were only 2-3 channelers up. Mag himself has around 3.4 mil HP and a 20 min enrage timer from the time he is unbanished.
Provided the tank can do 30% of the damage of a dpser (very doable, especially with a DK tank) and the healers do no damage then the ret pally only needed to do ~2.2k dps which is incredibly easy these days.
So it doesn't seem hard in the slightest, and could be an interesting way to make ~125g + shards in about half an hour. Not the most money in the world, but a bit entertaining at least.

I solo'ed RFC last night, as an elemental shaman. Post it please!

not impressed. Krog'all Eu 10maned sunwell. (Death Knight tank (frost), Prot warrior,Arcane mage,Resto druid,Holy priest,Blood dk(dps),Ret pala,Frost mage,Holy pala)
Its not complicated average gear= t7ish.
I can explain a bit of how the fight went:
-1: Trash mob: Unholy dk tanking. Its very easily and we have the blood dk and frost mage interupt casters.
-2: Up to Felmyst this is what we did. :Prot warrior tanking until phase 2 then switch to dk+antimagic shell+bone shield and continue dps very fast.
-2: Kaelgos: This one was hard. We got the dk tanking from start and just follow basic strategie. We had the dk dying so mage kited him for like 3sec before the prot warrior took over.
Rest of the fights are easy just follow the tactics like you where doing in 25man.
Oh and brutalus Basicly := we switched the arcane mage with a enh shaman for windfury.
brutalus is easy as long as your dps can keep up. You need everyone to be doing 3000dps so you don't fuck things up. Your healers will go oom in around 11minutes (using our group compo).
Ive heard its been 7maned but I seen no vids so far so I don't belive it.

5 Manned Mag earlier tonite.
Prot Warrior, Resto Druid, Disc Priest, 2x Rogue.
Wasn't so bad at all.
Fliptrocity Jan 3rd 2009 3:20AM
Meh,
Feral Druid, Holy Priest, Rogue and Hunter, we 4 manned it on Cenarius.
The best part is the gold really.
Mags + DLK + DoomWalker = alot of gold
The real challenge is 4 Manning High King Maulgar.
Ohnoto Jan 1st 2009 7:28AM
Starting last week, I started 3 manning Karazhan
In my group we have a DK Tank, Priest Healer, and me, Moonkin Druid.
It really is easy mode and rakes in about 200g on a full clear. We have yet to try Netherspite though.
