Queue queue moar noob
It's 10:40 p.m. EST on my server and there is a 30 minute wait to login with a queue of over 300. Oh me oh my, time to get out my BlizzCon goodie bag and head for the QQ n00b tissues. Many users across most of the servers, both in the U.S. and E.U., are reporting long queues again. While the population always seems to uptick around this time of year, one has to raise an eyebrow at this happening a second time in as many months.
November was understandable. Wrath was a big deal. But after a week or so the queues died down. Is this just the second insurgent of Wrath's wrath?
One can surmise that a large number of people received Wrath as a Christmas gift. The assumption is probably correct. Another popular theory is that with all the vacation time on folk's plate right now, people are using it to log into the game and enjoy a bit of Northrend adventuring.
That's probably right too.
What we've seeing is a perfect storm that is skyrocketing login queues every night.
Hopefully this will be ending in a few days, around the 5th or 6th of January when most of America has to go back to work and back to school. And yes, I know that there are exceptions, but in general that's when the holidays end and the real world takes over.
I for one can't wait. I'm running out of QQ tissues.

the christmas gift idea sounds good. i suspected at first that the connected-player cap has been lowered to reduce server lag.

Had an hour open to play, decided to do some grizzly hills PvP dailies... Ended up in a 900 queue on Laughing Skull US. Took 55 minutes, so I still managed to do the quest just east of conquest hold and kick alliance ass (how little there was at the time).

11:09 PM EST, and there's a 749 person queue on Aggramar US. This is a little ridiculous.

Laughing Skull ftw, you guys both Horde?
crispsnotchips Jan 2nd 2009 11:48AM
I'm horde, along with what seems like the entire laughing skull population. I figured all the kiddies would want to roll alliance, for a little chance to hang out with leeroy jenkins.

There has been a queue almost every night on Cenarion Circle, especially towards weekends, ever since Wrath came out. Average seems to be about 350, but I've had up to 640. Tonight was 348 and after 10 minutes I gave up; it still hadn't even given me an estimated time.

I was at Disneyland for the first time the other day and some kid in line behind me was telling his girlfriend what "QQ more" means and that he shuts up when his friends tell that to him. I wanted to punch his friggin' jaw loose with some of the stupid crap kids come up with.
He should have been appreciating where he was instead of turning the volume up on his Tool mp3s and saying embarassing crap in front of his fat girlfriend.

Tried logging on to my "Alliance Server" tonight for the first time in about a week. Usually it is at high levels, but with no queue. Sometimes it does have a line, but one that is only 20 or 30 people long. Tonight it was 1135. I went back to my "Horde Server".

high 700s on icecrown resulting in around 45 min wait. of course it doesn't help when icecrown is always being suggested as the default server...
sadly, by the time i get on, i end up not wanting to play anymore.

No queue at all on Drak`Thul. Ahhh the joys of playing on practically empty servers.
