Around Azeroth: Inner fire

How vain are blood elves? Well, Niohdor of <Kalimdors Legion> on Hydraxis is so vain, he probably thinks this post is about him. Wait ... it is. Okay, he's so vain that he's hired a team of gnome magicians to give him a constant sparkly glow effect, like that vampire is supposed to have in those ridiculous Twilight books. (Before the flames, I'll note that I read them and actually enjoyed the first two before it all turned into terrible fanfiction. How can anyone actually find the whole "I love you! But I must leave in case I hurt you! No, I can't stand to be apart! Damn everyone else, we're meant to be!" thing attractive? Why can't people take their romantic cues from Casablanca instead and realize that there are more important things in the world than being in love?)
So what's really going on here, aside me having some unresolved issues with the portrayal of relationships in modern media? Niohdor writes that the second boss in Heroic Violet Hold died while doing a spellcast, and the casting graphics bugged, remaining stuck. They finished the instance with this shiny purple effect just hanging around in the middle of the floor, and Niohdor decided to take a shot for posterity.
Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, double-mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.

Oh yeah, the ethereal boss. Same thing happened in a pug a couple weeks back. Didn't even think to do what this guy did.

Such terrible cynicism about romantic cliches in fiction!
Muntun Jan 3rd 2009 12:06PM

A female that NOT gone totally off the deep end about those really really wierd gushy vampire/romance oddness books and movie?!?!
Are you single? If not do you have any friends that are likewise immune to this stuff that are? Want to get married? Like right now?!
fluffydragon Jan 3rd 2009 1:50PM
I am female, and appalled by the series.
Does that help?

I'm female, most of my friends are female, and we all loathe Twilight.
Plz to be taking your stereotypes and shoving them.
Haaken Jan 3rd 2009 12:39PM
Almost every female I know has been infected by Twilight. I'm having to constantly remind them that they'll never get to sleep with Edward because he's a fictional flipping vampire!
Besides, he'd never cheat on Bella. D:

Tell me about it brother TELL ME ABOUT IT, I actually asked someonewho I was dancing with at new years "Are your eyes closed becauseyour tired or because your imagining that I'm the crazy vampire dude?"
Take a wild guess what the answer was........
The point is right now if I meet anyone female and under 25 that isn’t obsessed with that series as I indicated earlier I will probably try and get them to marry me on the spot.
And I am usually a VERY picky person when it comes to dating so take it from there...

You've managed to say something much more interesting in the Twilight-related comments than in the actual article.

Elizabeth, I hate to break this to you but Twilight was rabbit cage fodder from page one of book one. Trufax. Masturbatory fantasies of a bored Mormon housewife, is all they are. I did finally manage to read a more badly written book recently, though it was very, very hard.
Congratulations, Richard Knaak! War of the Ancients has now dethroned Twilights 1-4 as the worst schlock ever to get past an editor! You've won a /rude at "fire-haired" Rhonin Sue every time I go into the Violet Citadel and look into his "orbs".
Deadly. Off. Topic. Jan 5th 2009 3:36PM
I agree Richard Knaack has a knack for sucking the big one.

Hm, the exact same thing happened to me on one of my runs. I wasn't aware it was because of the boss' spellcasting, though I guess that makes perfect sense.

Woots! They post my picture (lol)
