this is actually a reply to the last 2 posts.. basically one long post about 2 swords...first off Frostmourn didn't turn Arthas into the Lich King... for the lights sake its been said to death that Arthas and the Lich King are actually still 2 beings, and if you've at all seen The Lich King talk in any of his appearances around Northrend you'll see that its LK talking and not Arthas, ones just living inside the other.. Frostmourn was a link for the Lich King to take control over whoever touched it. So lets say Mauradin wasn't as smart as he was and he touched it, Arthas would be either dead or have no memory now and we'd have a Dwarf shaped Lich King. Frostmourn gave Arthas power, it also let ol' LK into his head so he could start corrupting him, it wasn't till Arthas reached the frozen throne, broke the ice and wore THE ARMOR (because he wanted the power back that he grew to like and he was losing) did LK bind to him.. Even still LK is just using Arthas as a host, if someone else were to somehow get THE ARMOR we'd just have a different person to shake the fist at.. seriously the WC3 cinamatics have to be on youtube, they're short WATCH THEM, they aren't that confusing... honestly we're fighting a ghost but shaking our fist at Arthas, unless the ideal is that Arthas brought the majority of the destruction BEFORE he binded with the LK, something he could have just as well not done, which means we're hunting him for that. but all of this is REALLY unclear because just about every NPC is saying "Arthas Arthas Arthas" and that just makes me think they're unclear about how the LK works also, which is fine with me because that makes it more realistic, if they knew how he works they'd also have him killed already. also blizzard has said that they don't want Frostmourn to be a player item, the sword is just to dangerous even though it doesn't make who holds it into the Lich King.. The only reason players could hope to take the warglaives from Illiadan was because he stole them off the corpse of Azzinoth just like we've taken them from him. fair is fair and finder keepers and all thatas for the next post I'm sure that's sarcasm I'm detecting but still blizzard will bend lore when they think it can make sense. so here's how your thought was ludicrous. Shamans and Paladins were faction specific because they wanted unique qualities for each faction TILL they realized that those unique qualities actually hindered those classes/factions in some of the fights they were planning for BC..they couldn't come up with fights that would use those one class but would be doable by the opposing class on the opposing side.. for example: if you raided MC back in the day and did Garr but were told you can't have warlocks to banish because only the other faction could have them how unfair would that be? that's how blizzard saw it for pallies/shammies, they couldn't code fights that both of them could do given their different spell sets and class roles, so that created 2 classes that couldn't be exploited to their fullest.. so they came up with a hair brained story about space shaman and light aliens here we are, both sides have every thing now.. The thing that I'll say about the druid comment is that druidism is a lot like shamanism, even look at both class trees in the game: Caster/melee/healing. granted one can tank as well but still, the idea that druidism couldn't have seeds in shamanism or vise versa is single minded.. also that there shouldn't be any BE druids is just about as single minded.. Wowwiki's article on druids races states that the highborn/high elves/whatever have practiced druidism as druid magi and also that their rangers practiced it considering their time spent with nature. given that the bloodelves are relatives/descendant of these people its safe to say it came from there and that its rare within that aspect.. also if you look in the list of named druid npcs you'll see at least 2 humans.. the idea that a form of magic couldn't be taught to any one is again closed minded, its the fact that the majority don't practice it that doesn't make it a player class. moving on: Horde and Alliance could never share a neutral town?.. any one remember Booty Bay? Ratchet? Everlook? Gadgetzan?.. yeah they weren't towns that we spent all our time in, or were even main hubs, but they have the some of the same things that Shatt and Dalaran share but in smaller scale, ex: banks. so I'm hoping you were making a point at the tech capabilities of hundreds of players being in 1 place at a time (though I'm sure at some point booty bay had this issue) and not some unthoughtful remark on neutral towns..trolls and humans maxed out the at 6 character slots because of balancing the over all scheme of things.. i don't remember completely but before BC there was a similar amount of the existing classes on both sides except for paladins on the alliance and priests on the horde ( there were only 2 pally races on alliance and 2 priest races on horde).. now with the 2 newer races its a little more balanced and expanded. as for any statement about DK's and why every one can be one its because ANY one could die, but only few can be considered powerful enough to be a DK.. the Scourge proved before the expansion that they can reach even to shatt with their plague so even any comments of draeni not being of our world is uncalled for, specially since the in game time frame that WotLK came out at its been 2 years since draeni discovered to have landed, 2 years of them being all over the world including plagued places like the plaguelands, where it could be said that they were processed as Death knights. so yes they can be DK's also. Hero class is going to be a name that's going to phase out once it stops being new, honestly i think for the most part it has already.. the word "hero" is only in there because you can only become one for having a level 55 on your account, if you could start it when you first start a account it'd just be a class like any other. mounted combat still isn't in game, i can throw a quest bomb from a mount but i cant cast a spell from one, i cant use my weapons from one.. Siege Vehicles aren't mounts, they're siege vehicles.. i know that's gotta sound like splitting hairs but its blizzards terms, not mine. those issues really don't have any bearing on Ashbringer, but the lore HAS been changed for the sword just the same.. the Ashbringer has been passed to Tirion Fordring and has been cleansed. No player will hold it because, again i'm sure blizzard will say it sooner/ later or may have said it already, the sword is just to powerful.people would be one shotting all the bosses in Naxx with it. The Lich King is even afraid of it, and seeing as the forsaken's new plague weakened him a little I can see it defenitly killing him. so yeah players having it is of course the best course of action for the game to be any more difficult then it is now...The only way i can see it being used by a player is in the same way we were able to use the legendary weapons to fight Kael. it will be a one time use, fade away when the battle is over, weapon that we'll get thrown at us when we fight the Lich King.. then i can see a cinematic put in place showing it being destroyed along with the Lich king, as a whole balance of powers thing, like Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker but in a sword form.
