Well,
while we didn't get a patch after all (looks like that big edible hat I bought for Adam's going in the trash) at least we have happy news in that our
usual extended maintenance wasn't so extended after all. I logged on as a test to see if I would start downloading a patch, and instead I found myself presented with a plethora of servers to choose from! All my favorites were there! Even Azjol-Nerub, my original server, which I actually still have a toon on apparently. This is news to me.
If your server isn't up, apologies, but a cursory scan seemed to indicate that most are up now. Yay for less extended extended maintenance! You may now continue your regular scheduled gameplay, already in progress.

This whole patch thing is starting to remind me of a long running joke in the Mac community. G5 Powerbooks next Tuesday!
(If you hang out on Apple boards, you'll know what I'm talking about.)

Totally unrelated to this thread...
Whatever happened to the wowspace feature on this site? Do people just not send in shots of their setup anymore? Always thought that was kind of interesting.

I've been wondering the same thing. I enjoyed it muchly.

Aye, agreed, I loved that article. Really helped highlight some of the best add-ons and what they could do when used properly.
Can have article back? :D

I was just talking to someone in guild about the wowspace posting of the guy who played on his patio cause that was the only place he could get a wifi signal.
After checking for wowspace, I found it under the retired section of wowinsider.

I have to say, Mr. Rossi, you have a lot of characters.
Matthew Rossi Jan 6th 2009 1:12PM
Most of them are just alts I made to chat with people on those servers: I know a lot of people who play and they all seem to play on different servers. My main characters are either on Norgannon or Malfurion for the most part.

Back in the dark days of servers going down left and right anyone with an active account and a character on them got a free day of play, so i immediately dropped a goodly amount of level 1-4s on all sorts of servers and got something like 1-2 weeks of free play time as a result.
Doesn ' t seem to happen anymore, which is a testament to Blizzard's current standards for their servers.

Bluetuff Jan 6th 2009 9:40PM
Matt Rossi seems like a Attack the Darkness or a Blind Fate type of guy to me.
Raulnor Jan 6th 2009 10:54PM
Sweet, you play on Malfurion. That was my first server....aahh, good times there.

no patch, but I notice a 3.0.8 change that seems to have snuck in earlty - Kalimdor Loremaster is down to 700 quests ...
.. and more interestingly, Eastern Kingdom (which wasn't the hard one ot get) also dropped - to only 550 quests??
