I think that comes from the quest being grey. Grey quests don't give XP... so therefore they won't convert that XP to gold. I've been trying to figure out if this is actually the case, your example seems to prove it, thanks :)

I think it's really lame that blizzard doesn't allow gold from XP for grey quests at lvl80. It means that the only quests worth doing for extra gold are the ones still green or above, i.e. lvl76 or up I think.
