Around Azeroth: My city of ruins
This is all your fault. You promised to help out the Shattered Sun Offensive. You worked tirelessly for them for months, putting in hours a day, to the point where they exalted you and proclaimed you one of them. Then one cold fall day, you went away and never came back. Of course, without your help, Kael'thas immediately managed to summon Kil'jaeden, and they've been destroying the Isle of Quel'danas for the past few months. But you won't notice, will you? Not until the Burning Legion sweeps down on Silvermoon City and interrupts business at your precious Auction House. You disgust me.
Actually, Empwolf of Elune snapped a bunch of shots of a completely empty Quel'danas -- no NPCs, no mobs, no players -- just after a server reset yesterday morning. The whole abandoned-city motif makes me really hope my copy of Fallout 3 arrives soon.

Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, double-mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.Filed under: Screenshots, Around Azeroth, Galleries

Very creepy to see with no NPC's. I wish I could have been there to hear the silence.

So when I hit 80, one of the first things I did was head back to the Isle to do the dailies...
And I found that I was only being paid about 4g per quest. I heard something about the quest reward not showing the correct ammount, but when I comleted quests and looked at my gold, it only raised about 4g per quest...
Am I mistaken or are these dailies still pretty much a waste of time now [unless you're really hurting for gold and have no other dalies to do I suppose]?
Rioriel Jan 8th 2009 10:22AM
Level 70 dailies won't pay level 80 rates.

When I'm feeling lazy, I take my Level 80 Shaman to QD Isle. Sure its not much gold, but I can do the majority of them in less than an hour as well as mine the adamantite nodes there.
I've also averaged 3 to 4 green drops per run as well as the occasional blue.
If you are a tailor there is plenty of netherweave.
If you need rep there are sun fury signets and Mark of Sargeras.

Meh, all of those things were only useful in TBC. Who needs Netherweave Cloth anymore.
Amaxe Jan 8th 2009 5:50PM
Who needs netherweave cloth?
Well I levelled my level 52 druid to 375, so heavy netherweave bandages are a very fast heal/ It slows down as I get higher, but in my late 30s it was almost an instant heal

People often misunderstand why the dailies gave so much money in the first place.
It's because of XP to Gold conversion.
The SSO dailies were designed to be done at 70, max level at the time. They award a small amount of gold (4g or something similar) plus XP which would get converted to gold since you are level capped.
Obviously, at level 80 the XP you get from the quest is greatly diminished, so you get less money.

Now I feel guilty...
I miss that place. I know the dailies wouldn't give near as much gold as the ones now at 80, but I'm tempted to go back and do them anyway.

Me too, my favorite part was bombing Brutallus:
"What is this pathetic magic? How about you come back with twenty-four of your best friends and try again, Dwarf!"
Evi Jan 8th 2009 1:33PM
So why not go back? It might not be the most efficient use of time, but the dailies are certainly still available for you. :) I always enjoyed the Isle. I'm contemplating a return trip sometime, too!

Is there much point in heading to Isle Q these days? Do the quests offer a decent amount of gold if completed at lvl80?
Rioriel Jan 8th 2009 10:22AM
~4g ea.
Vektorix Jan 8th 2009 12:34PM
I really think that after all the work that was put in to taking and holding the Isle, killing Kael'thas and banishing Kil'jaeden, Blizzard should declare the war "won" and Quel'danas should become WoW's first resort. Beautiful golden sun, pleasant environment, no mobs - it'd be the perfect sanctuary for weary adventurers. Who would hang out in Dalaran or Shattrath when there's a beach!!?
Ghassan Jan 8th 2009 10:43AM
I love that idea..
Verymad Jan 8th 2009 11:52AM

with free dancing elfs!
and beer for all!
+ Trade channel, AH & Bank
maybe a lock or 2 to summon you to that place with just one /w away (ports ofc too)
Vektorix Jan 8th 2009 12:47PM
Well I know there would be no AH - Blizzard has made it clear that they want the capital cities to remain relevant via class trainers and auction houses. But it could certainly have most or all of the amenities of existing neutral cities, with perhaps other draws (player housing? cruises around the island? fun puzzle quests that could be non-combat dailies?) that'd differentiate it from the cities already in game.
I mean I know it's a lark of an idea but it would definitely be something *I* would like to see, rather than leaving it as a zone which almost no one will ever go to now.

I am planning to go back there to get Exalted with Shattered Sun, but not so soon. ;)
I wonder where its equivalent in Northrend will be.

A few weeks ago I went to check out how much gold the QD quests gave at 80. When I got there one of the guards greeted me with, "Who knows what will happen if you ever decide not to come back".
An npc laid a guilt trip on me : /
Melody Jan 8th 2009 2:16PM
Occasionally one of the guards offers you a drink too. LOL

"Not until the Burning Legion sweeps down on Silvermoon City and interrupts business at your precious Auction House. "
People use the Silvermoon AH?!?!
I've only seen a single character over level 20 there that wasn't a blood elf paladin going to train. It was my DK JC/BS and if they taught JC in Tbluff I would not have been there.
