Breakfast Topic: Are you an insomniac WoW player?

I'm a night owl, if you will. In fact I'm sitting here typing this up at 2:15 a.m. CST. Quite late for most of my WoW friends even (however at least a few WoW Insider writers are still up and working on things).
This leads me to ask for today's breakfast topic, what kind of player are you? Take a stab at the poll too and let us know.

One of the best parts about playing late at night is a certain attitude that I find hits around three in the morning. It's the phenomenon when everyone is tired, nearly falling over on their keyboard, and suddenly somebody says over vent "Let's just do one more heroic."
Next thing you know everyone is repairing and going at another instance. Suddenly instead of your head hitting that pillow like you wanted you're tanking another run. Bam, some more badges but no new gear. So much for the additional heroic. But that priest you're running with got something nice, so she's happy.
I can't imagine I'm alone in this near insomniac like running of instances at three in the morning. So I ask you, dear WoW Insider reader, are you up for just one more heroic?
If you don't get the picture, read up and go find a copy of the show to watch. You won't be disappointed.

I can remember staying up for a few entire nights back when i was levelling my first character, nothing like going 3 levels without sleep to really get you into character / delusional

It's 8:16 in the morning. I started playing WoW at 7 last night, just quit, haven't sleeped. Ohyeah.

ungodly hours ftw! servers are generally more peaceful then too.. and in my experience pugs have a better probability of doing well at those hours.
maybe all the kids are asleep?

I'm only a night owl on the weekend. On weekdays when I have to be up at 6am for work, I usually stop playing at midnight.

Before work 7 in the morning do some fishing or scrolling the auction house before goin to work.
Or going through all night when the girlfriend is out, to make a new toon and lvl him to 30 :)

I find that I play better the later it is. Not because it's quieter but because i kinda fall into that zone where your eyes feel heavy and you can zone into your rotation a lot easier. I tend to do better in heroics dmg wise and things just seem more clear, i dunno /shrug. I tend to get this way around 2 or 3am and have even gone with out sleep on nights before raids. Granted after the raid I tend to fall asleep in my chair as I'm putting up auctions lol. Also servers are quieter and I find it easier to farm ore and what not as well.

Night owl by necessity. I work a 4pm-midnight shift, so I usually find it impossible to fall asleep until at least 3 am. WOW is a great way to wind down after work.

LOL. So this us the first thing I read at 8:15am after stating up till 4 playing last night. ><
I usually don't stay up quite that late, maybe 2 or so. But it was about 2:30, and I was thinking of packing it in and someone psted me about Reg HoL. Since I've been on a desperate quest for the Seal of the Pantheon, and being extremely unlucky when it comes to tanking drops so far, I decided to give it a shot.
Sure enough, both the Eternally Folded Blade and the Seal if the Pantheon drop for me. Woot. So it's not crazy to do those late night runs at all... Or maybe it was, considering I knew my kids would wake me up at 8am regardless...
Nah, it was worth it. :D
Oh, and when I logged off after doing some more SoH quests (don't ask why), I still had four other guildmates on. Now, they're crazy! ;)

I usually play between 7pm and 9pm, and then I watch TV or go out for the rest of the night and get to bed for 2am.
Unless someones LF DPS for a raid, then I can never say no and end up spending 3 or 4 hours on WoW...
After the third hour I start getting bored and want to go out, at this point the emblems of valor seem less exciting

Back in the day when I did Nightfill at a supermarket, I'd wake up at 5pm, start work at 6, lunch at 9pm, get home at 3am, have some dinner, then play WoW til dawn.
'Twas a good life. Normally, as I'm an Aussie, my evening is middle of the morning for most. But when doing this, I was playing during American afternoon, so there were enough people for groups, but it wasn't fully packed.

I'm an early morning WoW player, myself, so I sometimes overlap with the serious night owls. I often find myself online around 6am EST on my days off and find it the most relaxing play time I can get. Heck, at that time of day, folks are actually talking about trading stuff in Trade Chat, a practice I'm sure will never catch on -- I mean, really: the nerve!
A cup of coffee and the server practically to myself on a weekday morning = win.

Farming for nodes during early morning hours is so very very FTW
Erleg Jan 10th 2009 8:43AM
I have the habit of waking up at 2-3am my server's time. It gives me a couple hours to grind dailies/farm mats before I have to get up and about for work or school for the day. It's generally the most peaceful I ever see the server.

Let's see... Been up since 2pm, and it is now 8am... I'd say "yes". I AM a Night Owl. Sad thing is, I can remember what caused it. I was on my Priest, and I was getting ready to go to sleep (at that time, Midnight was a normal sleeping time) and I was asked to heal Heroic Nexus. Well I did, and couldn't go to sleep, so I played on until I got sleepy, and I've been staying up later and later ever since.

Some people tell me wow has a day time.
I think they lie.
blkmasta55555 Jan 10th 2009 9:03AM
I have varying stages of insomnia, which go as follows:
If i cant sleep at 1am, i browse the internet.
2am, i listen to music.
3am, I play wow.
4am, go downstairs and eat/play wow/watch TV
5am, I stop kidding myself and go get ready for work/college.

HOW DID YOU KNOW WHAT I DID LAST NIGHT GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!
Cyanea Jan 10th 2009 9:39AM
I absolutely love the peace and quiet of playing at night, and the sense of calm that descends over me as I hit "the zone". No parents bugging me to do things. No sister and her friends being loud and distracting. It's just quiet. I've always always ALWAYS been a night owl. Seeing dawn (after staying up all night) is one of my favorite times of the day, so I always take a break there to go enjoy it.
(That's the best warlock armor ever. Hands down. I can't wait until I hit it.)

between the less "younger" crowd being on and making friends in time zones across the planet for about 2-3 months Ive been living on a near 12hr "shift" from the "norm" lol Wow is purely to blame... Well, Im to blame of course. But Wow is still at fault!
