Fatal1ty talks WoW at CES
Say what you want about Fatal1ty and his endless selling out (we know you will), but the guy is a recognizable face, something that's a little hard to find in the world of professional gaming. Allakazham caught up with him at CES last week, and in between talking about how awesome he and his products were (sigh), they did get some good Warcraft talk out of him. He's been taking advantage of Recruit a Friend, so he's got a Warrior, Rogue, and a Death Knight all to level 60 (unfortunately, I didn't hear him say which faction he plays). His Death Knight's "get over here" "grappling hook" have captured his imagination -- hopefully he'll stick with playing with his brother and get up to level 80 so he can see some of the endgame PvP. Unfortunately, he says he's not into PvE at all, which explains why he's going slow, but if he can push the last 20 levels, there's some fun stuff to be found..
And then it's back to the selling -- he says he's looking forward to sponsoring some players under his brand later this year (though he has no plans to play WoW professionally), and he pimps some equipment, too. It's not exactly a hard-hitting interview, but it is interesting to hear one of professional gaming's biggest names talk about his time in Azeroth.

Woo-hoo, useless info from the Sell-Out champion!
Also to note...oh wait he didn't say anything useful...
Liel Jan 12th 2009 3:40PM
Sell out because he gets paid to do something to the extreme only the most unemployed do?

"Sell out because he gets paid to do something to the extreme only the most unemplyed do"
Wanna try some grammar and maybe the odd bit of punctuation and maybe the comment will make sense.
Tumleren Jan 12th 2009 4:07PM
There there.. Don't be mad because you don't know how to reply.
And it's Want to* by the way.
Also -If you used your brain (*GASP* Oh yea, I said it), you'd probably be able to figure out that he by this:
Sell out because he gets paid to do something to the extreme, only the most unemployed do?
...basically meant this: He's a sellout because he gets paid to do something only unemployed people get to do?
Now
Off to bed kiddo
Joyous_Oblivion Jan 12th 2009 4:29PM
Kiddo? Not sure where that came from. But if you're used to your nap in the middle of the afternoon, who am I to stop you :)
I understood perfectly what he meant, but was subtly suggesting someone in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks...
To break that down for you...don't reply like a jerk but in doing so make yourself look worse off.
And 'wanna' is a contraction of 'want to', not the Queen's English, but still quite valid.

Tumleren, what was the point of your post? I suggest you stick to the topic rather than make yourself look like a fool by being a prick on the internet.
Back on topic, I've never met a serious gamer who likes Fatality. I don't even understand how they think his brand sells stuff.

"To break that down for you...don't reply like a jerk but in doing so make yourself look worse off."
Hypocrisy is such fun, don't you think?

Joyous_Oblivion Jan 12th 2009 3:09PM
Any chance we can have idiots banned who have the desire to put "first" in their posts?
Bad enough when the first poster does it, looks stupid when posters 2-10 try it...

This article sounds more like something a friend would send me in aim than an actual news article.
Jack Spicer Jan 12th 2009 3:13PM
Who is this guy? And why should I know him?
Tridus Jan 12th 2009 3:32PM
I was going to ask the same question, with the additional "why should I care that he did an interview with no information?"
Laorien Jan 12th 2009 3:14PM
Should I know (or care) who this guy is?
jason Jan 12th 2009 3:16PM
I'd sellout all over the place if I got that kind of money.
ezmode Jan 12th 2009 3:22PM
Agreed. If anyone could make a TON of money playing video games, why would they not do it?
Also agreed on blocking the stupid idiots who post FIRSTS!!!!!1 these people should be forced to eat rat poop...
...preferably Dalaran Sewer Rat poop
Evi Jan 12th 2009 4:15PM
No kidding! If someone wanted to pay me to play video games, I'd be all over it! And I'm very skeptical of anyone who claims otherwise.
Lab Monkey Jan 12th 2009 4:20PM
I wonder how one is supposed to remain true to their computer gaming roots and not "sell out" anyway? What type of gamer integrity or street-cred did he cash in?
Xenite Jan 12th 2009 3:26PM
"Who is this guy? And why should I know him?"
Some raging game addict who won a quake tourney years ago and now hocks over priced pos gaming gear from creative. Which other raging addicts buy believing that it would allow them to be "l33t".
In other words, Just a nobody.
ArtDecoAutomaton Jan 12th 2009 4:15PM
Why the hostility?
Plastic Rat Jan 12th 2009 9:37PM
"Why the hostility?"
Because the guy is an annoying tool that helps to over-commercialize an already badly commercialized industry. Gaming needs more creative folks who want to make something cool and fewer exploitive idiots who want to suck it dry.
Besides.. seriously.. "Fatal1ty"? With a '1'? Seriously? I cant' read that name without wanting to /facepalm
