Around Azeroth: A beautiful night for a war
The 1977 Protocol 1 amendment to the Geneva Convention states, "It is prohibited to employ methods or means of warfare which are intended, or may be expected, to cause widespread, long-term and severe damage to the natural environment." Clearly this protocol has not been ratified in the World of Warcraft.
From the chemical contamination of Hellfire Peninsula to the pollution of the Plaguelands by the Lich King's illegal biological warfare, Azeroth has been rendered halfway uninhabitable by war. And now the Illidari are defoliating our precious tree druids, like Delurm of <Veterans of the Phoenix> on Malygos! Forget raids, quests and dungeons. The best way for the Horde and Alliance to defeat their enemies is by hiring a really good environmental protection lawyer.

Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, double-mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.Filed under: Screenshots, Around Azeroth, Galleries

The picture is nice, but equating it to the Geneva Convention and quoting the protocol is awesome.
10/10 + 5 extra credit.

I read the title for this posting and thought, "Hey, that's right. I'll go load up WAR now"
And so I am off! Thanks WoW insider for reminding me about WAR!

Enjoy your dying game.

Granted WAR is no WoW - but it is not a dying game. It is like people forget that City of Heroes, Everquest, Lord of the Rings, and sooooo many more games keep running (and with profit) while being fun to play.
You don't need 10 million people in an MMO to keep it from dying.
So far, from my experience, Mythic is using their income to improve their game far more than Blizzard uses their profits in a strict percentage amount. WAR has updates all the time and their developers address concerns openly and often. They actively respond to the playerbase. AND they don't go down all day on Tuesday to patch.
WoW is great and all, but WAR is fun too. You should try it out.

I thought it was going to have something about "when the treants go to war" or the like... but this was good too!

Man, as gorgeous as the shots are (there's some really good scene-setters out there) it's the captions that makes these. This is one of my fave columns.

Hellfire Peninsula is on Azeroth? What was the portal for? WHY?

24.... tick!.....tick!....tick!
Radio shows, tv news, news papers, and even WoWinsider.
what an amazing show! they mentioned the Geneva Conventions for like 4 seconds and now we all remember that the Geneva's treaties even exist. I wish the show would have air 4 yrs ago. It would have save alot of paper work to the CID (Criminal Investigation Division).
