Arcanite Ripper gets a model change in patch 3.0.8
Patch 3.0.8 is bringing an interesting change to one of the more nostalgic items added to the game recently besides the many Heirloom items that came with Wrath. The Arcanite Ripper, a nod to the Arcanite Reaper of old, is getting a graphical overhaul. Its new model is much cooler, but it's a little sad to see that model go. I'm not too busted up about it, because I can still pick up a Bloodied Arcanite Reaper if I get sentimental. The new Ripper will use the guitar model used by Bergrisst of the Tauren Chieftains (who you transform into upon right clicking the weapon). The new model is way cooler looking, but it's still a little sad to see the old one go. Despite the more awesome model, I can't help but feel my attachment to my Paladin's Ripper fading away.

Lets see.. they could use those 10 min they spend on the arcanite reaper to make the soul shars stack, but nooo.. window lickers -.-

The new (old) model looks great... I carry mine around in my "novelty" bag with my Ogre Trinket & other tidbits that summon things/change my appearance.
I honestly don't know why everyone is getting so worked up over the time that it took for this to be made.
On average we pay Blizzard $5 a week each.
Now here's some mathematics for those of you with a problem with these "10 minutes".
Multiply the weeks you've played this game by $5. Now divide that by the amount of people that have worked/do work on World of Warcraft at Blizzard (Activision) from it's very inception.
You know what the end result comes to? Roughly it's just your 2 cents (pun intended!). Sadly you couldn't pay the guy who did change/revert the model enough money to do something else with his time.
Give the guy a break, I think it's great to re-hash novelty items or any items what so ever. I bet the guy that did was like "Damn, those people who have this and still play around with it are going to be stoked!". And they are. You probably just missed the drop, or even worse play a class that doesn't even use axes whatsoever!

God forbid this game have fun and unique things in it every once in a while. Next thing you know they'll give all hunter pets proper jump animations or - god forbid - add dancing animations to the Vry'khul chicks you transform into!!!!
But no worries. In actuality, most of Blizzard's resources go towards making cookie cutter raid encounters and working out the math to "itemize" all twelve of the new armor and weapon models their artists bothered to draw and model up. That's the important stuff, right?
