US PvP free character transfers
North American and Oceanic players, don't feel left out just because the last round of transfers were European-only. Here's some for us, and even with a little bit of that faction-specific flavor.
- Source A: Arthas, Bleeding Hollow, Bonechewer, Boulderfist, Burning Blade, Dragonmaw, Frostmane, Illidan, Kel'Thuzad, Laughing Skull, Lightning's Blade, Magtheridon, Mal'Ganis (Horde Only), Mannoroth, Sargeras, Shattered Hand, Skullcrusher, Tichondrius, Warsong
- Destination A: Drak'Thul, Hakkar
- Source B: Barthilas, Frostmourne, Thaurissan (Horde Only), Jubei'Thos
- Destination B: Gundrak (Oceanic)
There's also a note at the end of the post to the effect that although these are all for PvP realms, PvE transfers will be announced shortly, so stay tuned, carebears (don't get me wrong, I'm one of you).
Players on these realms, will you be transfering? Remember that if you want to, you should do it as soon as possible. These transfers are scheduled to stay open until Wednesday, January 21, at 6 PM PST, but they do close early if the transfer goals are met.

Every time I witness someone calling PvE server population "carebears," I think of the people who tastelessly hang around STV ganking people 40-50 levels lower than them to stroke their ego.

Not to say there aren't people out there who do it like that and for that reason.
The temptation is always to imply or suspect that person ganking you is, because that reduces him to a sad little man, and it allows you to combat feelings of bitterness if you feel they're just pathetic.
But most people I think fall into the category of griefer.
They're doing it, because irritating someone or causing them inconvenience (especially if they were delivered some of that brand of special medicine leveling up as well) is amusing and entertaining.
I personally used to grief to attract higher levels out to pvp, because I know that a lot of people will call out for help at some point or log into their main.
If it's a big guild name on a lowbie you can almost count on retaliation. Bigger the guild the bigger the egos. You just better have friends and have them hide in wait while you do the baiting. They're almost always sure to bring 2-3 people to your 1, and if they think it's only one of you, you might get a fair fight.
You can incite a pretty big battle in STV if you agitate the right spots.
Again, all of that was a little out of mainstream ganking. Most of it is just people getting their kicks out of causing people headaches.

And to all of you on those destination realms:
Get ready for queue times and get ready for the social environment of your server to drastically change in a big hurry.
Tortheldrin just fell victim to this transfer strategy.
If you're not already out of trade and general chat, I'd suggest leaving now... before everyone starts yelling at each other for:
1. Causing the new queue/lag problems
2. Sucking for being on a slow-progression server
3. Whatever other teenage angst they have pent up
If you are transferring to get away from Queues and/or latency issues be warned: you will not get away from them. You will simply be moving to a new server where everyone is pissed.

so Tortheldrin sucks? i was thinking of moving from Warsong to there but seems there wont be much of a change.
mdhowle Jan 15th 2009 4:52PM
@silverdragon
I wouldn't transfer to Tortheldrin if I had to choose again. I transferred off Bleeding Hollow with my guild to escape the 800+ queue. Tortheldrin's queue isn't quite as bad, but it has some *terrible* server lag, which I did not experience on Bleeding Hollow.
From now on, I am going to make a lowbie on the server to monitor the population and server response and wait until I get the announcement they're closing transfers before making my decision.

No transfer off of Misha?
bullocks.
durendul Jan 15th 2009 3:34PM
drak'thuls where its at come here
Calybos Jan 15th 2009 6:28PM
Really hoping they include Misha, and possibly Baelgun, in the next round of PvE transfers. Misha's usually full to the locked-out point, and Baelgun not far behind.

I'm willing to move over a couple of chars from Mal'Ganis but I'll need some friends to come with me :) Any takers?
ForSquirrels Jan 15th 2009 3:40PM
Damn, Now my nice quite server is gonna get way busy. I liked being able to walk around Dalaran without lag.
Michael Jan 15th 2009 3:52PM
Wait. Dalaran... without lag???
LIES!
Janoi Jan 15th 2009 4:01PM
you mean DaLAGran....
Cochese Jan 15th 2009 4:01PM
I would think twice about transferring. Drak'tharon, the victim from last week's transfers, is in a crummy state rigth now, with no admission from Blizzard that there is a problem. It's not the ~50 queue every night (that's no big deal)... its the awful lag. Ping hovers around 350-400, and randomly spikes quite often.
snowleopard233 Jan 15th 2009 4:01PM
Aw come on firetree is left out again!
Vango Jan 15th 2009 4:17PM
Dear Horde, please leave Mal'Ganis.
Especially certain Mages.
You know who you are.
Also, if every horde DK could leave as well, that would be good. Thank you.
Michael Jan 15th 2009 4:20PM
Seconded.
Voltic Jan 15th 2009 4:20PM
What about Emerald Dream? The queue is getting ridiculous every night.
Cass Jan 15th 2009 4:22PM
I have to admit when I saw D'thul on the list as a destination today it made me sad. While we are a small pop, we have many good folks and some great guilds. If you choose to join our small paradise, be gentle.

I'd like it if the 1 hour queues would stop on Wildhammer................
