WoW Moviewatch: Darkwinds Scourge
As a machinima, the visiual narrative could use a faster pace. The author's stuck in the loop of cool shot after cool shot. Individually, they all work well, but strung together, the scenes move a little slow. While AF says that the Guild is an evil-themed troupe, with the in-character goal of punishing "the traitor Darion Mograine," I'm not sure there's enough contextually in the movie itself to draw that conclusion. Some subtitles or screen overlays would help that immensely, and help draw the viewer into the story.
Still, it's a trailer piece for a Guild, and on that level, it works fantastically. It would be nice to see more Guilds put this kind of effort into branding themselves, and I look forward to more in this genre.

Poor, to say the least. A lack of good movies to feature doesn't mean you HAVE to feature.
Plus, as an RP guild their trailer has Disturbed music? Fail.

First!
Its an alright machinima, better than a lot of people could do.
I agree, it needs a LOT more pace. All i saw was a bunch of deathknights walking around plaguelands. Hardly any storyline at all, can hardly point out the main characters.
For a first off movie to promote their guild, i guess its alright, but could be improved loads.
Gj!

Anyone who strives to be "FIRST!" is a tool.
Stop following a dead fad.

Small note. The song is called Forsaken - David Drainman is lead voice. It's from Queen of the Damned OST - where most songs are written by Jonathan Davis from koRn
Fooliecoolie Jan 16th 2009 2:23PM
This song and 4 other songs were written by Jonathan Davis for Queen of the Damned but he had to turn the vocal work to David because contract issues between Warner Bros and KoRn's label EMI prevented him from singing the songs himself.
Fooliecoolie Jan 16th 2009 2:29PM
I was incorrect, the issues were between Warners and Sony at that time, KoRn didn't sign with EMI/Virgin until 2005
Joelock Jan 16th 2009 12:28PM
The song is by korn, I cant think of the name was used in the movie Queen of the Damned as well

DKs just walking around, kneeling, and fighting to heavy metal does not impress me.

So I guess they're trying to recruit healers...

DKs walking around, wow cool...
FAIL

I would not have had a sense of their in game goal from watching this. A mood piece maybe, but I kept waiting for something to develop and it did not.

Almost makes me wish I played on an RP server.
I could raid in a loin cloth with a lvl 50 sword and claim it was an aspect of my character, despite being a total drag on the group.
Of course this probably happens a lot, thus why RP servers have trouble clearing Naxx.

I find your statement much akin to the excrement of the male bovine.

Congrats on looking ignorant. RP realms do just fine with their PvE progress. It may not be as fast as PvE or PvP realms, but by no means does that mean we can't clear Naxxramas or kill Malygos. You should try looking at WoWjutsu sometime and get some information before posting uneducated and useless posts.
As you may have guessed, I'm on The Sha'tar as well. Excellent realm, not just for our PvE progress but for the RP and creativity that blooms here. Can't imagine being anywhere else. =)

Poor.
A bunch of DKs standing around Plaguewood in their (admittedly cool looking) starter gear does not make:
a) a good movie
b) a good trailer
c) a good WI article

What is that cowl two of the belfs are wearing? It looks so good.
AyaJulia Jan 16th 2009 1:21PM
Pretty sure that's the starter-starter DK piece. You know, the green bit you're wearing when you first make the character, before you get the blue helm you come out of the place with.
Amaxe Jan 16th 2009 1:36PM
Yeah. Personally I thought the starter cowl looked much better on the NE than the final helmet. It was much more menacing I thought

So I've learned absolutely nothing from watching this video other than they like to RP in silence (/emotes, maybe?) and they are somehow in awe of BE DKs on giant mushrooms.
I saw text at the beginning and end of this movie, so why couldn't they just add some dialogue in subtitles or some sort of explanation?
This video is just another reason why I usually skip over the WoW Moviewatch thread.
Hey, has anyone seen "The Craft of War: BLIND"!? It's AWESOME! I can't seem to find it on here, though... Someone should post*THAT* movie. :D
