New RP, PvE servers open for transfers
Well, they promised a new RP transfer server, and here it is. Not only that, but to go along with it, they're giving us another brand new PvE realm, a transfer one this time.
These transfers opened up last night at 11 PM PST, and are scheduled to close on Friday, 1/23 at 9 PM PST/midnight EST (but could close early if enough people transfer, so go soon if you intend on going). The details:
- Source: Aggramar (Alliance Only), Alleria (Alliance Only), Area 52, Argent Dawn, Azjol-Nerub, Blackhand, Bloodhoof, Cenarion Circle, Cenarius, Dalaran, Doomhammer, Dragonblight, Earthen Ring, Emerald Dream, Feathermoon, Garona (Alliance Only), Garrosh (to Wyrmrest Accord only), Hellscream, Icecrown, Lightninghoof, Maelstrom, Moon Guard, Silvermoon, Twisting Nether, Whisperwind, Zul'jin
- Destination: Winterhoof (PvE), Wyrmrest Accord (RP). Both realms are in the Emberstorm battlegroup and the Pacific time zone.
There's a note in Zarhym's post to the effect that Wyrmrest Accord is in fact an RP server, and the RP rule set will be enforced there. Probably best to go to the other server if you want to grief RPers, roll a character named "Arthuss," or otherwise do non-RP-server-friendly things.

@Random: Oh boohoo, did I not aggravate you enough to warrant more sarcasm? Oh pity, I rather enjoyed watching your squirm in your ball of pathetic remarks.
I pay $25 NZD to play World of Warcraft. Our money goes into making this MMORPG. It is our money that pays for pretty much everything related to World of Warcraft.
So in saying that, why should I not have the right to know that the rules Blizzard puts down are being enforced? And why should I pay for something when I am not getting what I paid for?
I am paying to play on an RP realm, that means with people who role-play (and it says that in the realm-type (description). I am not playing to see some idiots make characters on RP realms just so they can either grief other players or solicit themselves for cybersex in Goldshire.
If I wanted sex I could get it elsewhere and not online. As could anyway. It's absolute bull that Blizzard are too lazy to enforce their own ToU.

@ Kia:
Ooh, another Gawkerite. You know, I'd love to see WoW Insider start disemvoweling people.
Psy Jan 19th 2009 3:53AM
Hm, just saw that myself. I don't mind Kotaku blog but personally I think some of them are elitist jerks. Though, it seems there are some of those everywhere.
If you like Gawker Media so much then piss off back to them. As far as I'm concerned, a blog's comments are read to get the "players" opinion on the topic. The article you are really reading is the article itself, not the comments.

Wow, I've had nothing but great rp and met some excellent guildies on Moon Guard in just a few months. Given your attitude, though, I'd say you're the one with the issues, chief. So, yeah...Don't let the door hit you on the way out, can't say you'll be missed. ^^;

Nerdrage more IMO.

This is great. I've often wondered...what can someone do to get themselves banned off of WoWInsider forums. Apparently, it takes more than I originally anticipated. At worst, I've probably been an asshole on several occasions.
Thanks to Random's pioneering research in the field, I now realize I can be a raging firstclass douchebag asshole. Though like Random, I'll have to remember to only do this on the internet where I can appear to be as tough as I like and get lots of attention, lest I get punched in the face.
I expect good things from this thread, and especially good things from you, Random. Fire it up, go total retard for us. I know you've got more in you than what you've put up so far.

Oooo....
Hey, look, everyone! I can use PRO-FAN-I-TY!!! I'M SO COOL AND l337!!!
Little boy, your daddy wants to use his computer for adult things. You had better go off and play with your Telletubbies now. Isn't it past your bedtime?

What if I want to role play as a character who hates roleplayers? My RP would consist of naming my toon Legolazzxz and talking ooc at every opportunity. I don't see how that could be against the RP ruleset because I would be roleplaying. What do you guys think?
Kylenne Jan 18th 2009 5:17AM
I think you fail at trolling.
Sadrine Jan 18th 2009 10:28AM
The fact that there is so much unadulterated vitriol directed towards RP realms and the people who enjoy them boggles my mind. Everyone pays the same amount of money to play the game, does it -really- bust your balls if someone is enjoying it in a different way than you are?
And, personally, Eliah....I also don't quite understand how you can blatantly encourage the breaking of the rules that Blizzard set down. That's really pretty shameful.
Terrant Jan 18th 2009 10:58AM
Eliah is encouraging people who want to do those non-RP behaviors to go to the "other server" i.e. Winterhoof PvE.

Within the online gaming community roleplayers are the kids in the back of the short bus that have to wear helmets so they don't kill themselves banging their heads against the windows.
One of my favorite things to do in WoW is create characters on RP realms with names like Legolassie or Seffiwrath and see how many times roleplayers whisper me that they reported me.
Then there was the time I roleplayed as a child molester and ran around Ironforge humping gnomes. That certainly generated some entertaining QQs from RPers.
Sadrine Jan 18th 2009 8:33PM
CM. Thanks for the reply, but it doesn't actually answer my question. Unless, of course, you're the type of person who gets enjoyment out of abusing mentally handicapped children.

Meaning RP servers seem to be only good for the "mature" players to engage in ERP. Thats the state of RP servers nowadays.
Xyra Jan 20th 2009 2:41PM
I'm glad to see there are new realms opening up. I'm not so glad to see that people can't seem to act mature when it comes to making comments on the internet. RPers have just as much right to do what they enjoy. I've rarely encountered RPers going to PvP or PvE realms and griefing those players for doing what they enjoy. It's a sad day when the majority finds pleasure and amusement in upsetting others. RP griefers remind me of the ten year old boys that race past my door every day after school and bang on my window. I'm waiting for the day my window breaks and their parents try to sue me for it.
