WRUP: Vampire of choice edition
Another week is gone and another weekend has arrived -- which means the WoW Insider crew are hard at work with what we like to call "work-related research." (And which our loved ones call "goofing off and playing video games.") What's the team doing this weekend? Avoiding vampires, obviously.Robin Torres: Our whole family has come down with the plague and I'm not sure how much time we'll have to play in between zombie explosions. I've also been bitten by the RP bug and am trying to find an RP/RPPvP realm to suit my needs (and without a vampire overpopulation).
Alex chimed in with a response: Robin, give up now. Such a server does not exist. The only difference is what kind of vampires you'll come across. Anne Rice? Twilight? Dracula? Hellsing? Nosferatu? That's what you need to consider. A vampireless RP server does not exist.
Though the WoW Insider team can't agree on their vampire of choice, we do all enjoy a good time in World of Warcraft. So what's the rest of the team up to this weekend?
Adam Holisky: Since my sources inside Blizzard tell me that they hate every class other than Shamans, I'm going to be playing mine on full rested XP while listening to the song "I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me" by Beck. Ideally I'll get her up to around level 65.
Alex Ziebart: I'm not even really logging on except for raids. Pretty bored, overall. Hoping patch 3.1 has plenty of content beyond just the Ulduar raid, because I'm somehow already tired of Wrath. Not sure if I'm just burned out, or the content doesn't have much longevity this time around.
Allison Robert: I'll be working on Sons of Hodir rep and stockpiling flask materials for future raids. And at some point I have to sit down and ask myself a few hard questions over what to toss (or not) from the bank.
Amanda Dean: I just got my second 80, heroics and getting ready for the endgame
Chase Christian: Rerolled a new 2v2 team, not going to Naxx because our MT is sick. :(
Dan O'Halloran: Finished powerleveling Cooking, so now I'll continue with the Dalaran Daily cooking quests while tackling the last 7 quests to finish the Dragonblight Quest Achievement and start digging into Sholazar Basin quest lines. May run in a few PuGs as Moonkin for experience and for the fun of topping the damage charts.
Daniel Howell: Recording BRK Podcast Episode 13 with a Marksman huntress guest. Intro song is going to be "I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me" by Beck.
Daniel Whitcomb: Primarily, I want to get a group together and bust through the Icecrown Group quests so I can get Northrend Loremaster on my DK. I'm also hoping to finish off a couple more Outland zone quests achievements, probably Nagrand and Blade's Edge. Yep. Still lovin' achievements.
Eliah Hecht: Probably more of trying to level my DK, but getting called away to tank heroics on my druid. Constantly. I haven't managed to get single level since last week, but I have gotten about 60 EoHs for the bear.
Elizabeth Harper: In the true sign of an addict, I've opened a second account so I can level various alts together. The weekend is probably a lost cause.
Matthew Rossi: I'm not playing at all this weekend: family issues have made game time very rare indeed. Hopefully by Monday I'll be back in the swing.
Michael Gray: Levelling my Paladin to be ubertank once more.
Michael Sacco: Likely doing guild runs of Naxxramas 10/25 on my awesome DK in between playing Dead Space with the lights off.
Zach Yonzon: If my Internet holds -- and it's been real uncooperative -- it should be more Battleground Achievements. The veteran ones are somewhat mind-numbingly long. Also trying out a new 5v5 comp. Also spending some time on the PTR to fully test out Warlock specs... spent over 200 Gold in respecs in an hour just practicing on target dummies.
So what are you playing this weekend?

Contemplating whether to start a healer alt. The problem is what class...
Want a melee class, so there go Priests.
I'm a hordie and don't like Tauren, so there go Druids.
I like the idea of Shaman, but they're quite boring. Enhancement is pretty much Shock, then whack things 'til 40 when Stormstrike comes in.
What, I forgot Pallies? Not touching them. They... just don't feel right. Kinda like Alliance's sloppy seconds.

Not a lot, got an OS10 run though, so that'll kill half hour. Bug guildies for heroics so I an finally max out Wyrmrest rep. Level fishing. Die a little inside.

@ Robin Torres: I would like to shamelessy plug my home realm as the Best RP/PVP Realm around.
The Venture Co Us - is home to many fantastic roleplaying guilds that have standards, our realm moto is VCO is for Fite! (yes spelled like that too as a nod to some of our best forum trolls)
The PVP battelgroup isn't to extreme, and we are average on progression in comparrison to other realms, but where we shine. WORLD Roleplaying PVP, storylined PVP world events involving multiple guilds and cross faction roleplay.
The best example thus far is the Fall of Legends campaign, there are a few campaigns going at the moment as well.
I encourage you to read up on our forums (hopefully avoiding the trolls) and finding what you are looking for :)
I'm partial to horde side, and some of the good guilds to check our are the Theme based guilds like Suncrown, Grunts, Thuderlord Clan, Black Tooth Grin, and Aeturnas Trinutus.
I'm not too familar with the alliance side, but Grim Covenant and Keepers of Stromguarde are two well known RP-PVP guilds.
Hope this helps!
Analeia Elsadorian, of House Suncrown.

oh and well we do have one prominant "vampire" that trolls the forums.... they are not nearly as prominent in game horde side, at least i've never seen one.

I play Horde on Vent Co. too! We do have some nice rp-pvp guilds, though they're sort of a hobby for me and not something I spend all my playtime with. Really, though, if you're looking for good rp and less vampires and ERPers, Horde-side Venture Co. is the way to go :)

VeCo is 4 fite!
VeCo Horde represent!
Robin Torres Jan 18th 2009 2:04PM
Thank you so much! I will have to give Venture Co. a try. :)

Amanda Dean, if you read this, I haven't seen any characters of yours that I recognize in a while and I kinda liked talking.
I'm swearing constantly at my realm. I haven't expanded my guild like I planned so to get into anything, I have to rely on PuGs. Not only are the healers rare, but they developed this "You need us, therefore, you are my bitch" attitude on our realm. One decided we can't do anything in the middle of the Heroic VH because he thought skinning was more important than the timed portals which he can't control either. "a combined 60 gold in repair bills netween the party to get that 40 silver in skins was TOTALLY WORTH IT". *cough*.
I am not kidding, this has happened.

Emo vampire d-bags are just one more reason that RP realms are the special education classes of the WoW realms. I'm just glad there is a secluded place for them that doesn't disturb the rest of us. Sure, there's one or two here and there that slip through the cracks and start banging their helmets on the mailboxes and get on trade chat to get help opening their juice box.
Obora Jan 17th 2009 10:48AM
Robin, I'd suggest you consider Ravenholdt. It's an EST RPPvP realm. We've got quite a few solid roleplaying groups on both sides, and our brand-new, really, REALLY awesome roleplaying forums at http://ravenholdt.us. And in leveling/roleplaying a toon to 80, I haven't seen a single vampire yet.
The above applies if you're Alliance. If you're Horde, stay far, far away. Our realm has rabies. And vampires. Lots of them. (( The Horde outnumber the Alliance somewhere from 1.4:1 to 3:1, depending on what sources you trust. So I'd encourage you to roll Alliance if you do come. ))

Ooooh Ok, if I decide to go Alliane, I'll try there. Thank you!

Gonna work on my level 18 hunter alt. After having a level 80 mage, I cannot believe how quick and easy it is to level this hunter.

Going between Wintergrasp for honor but really for the its Marks for a brand new helm that's coming with 3.0.8 and Heroics for badges for a shiny new chest and the Wyrmrest drake-mount (it's fast because it's red).

Nothing. I have an Ancient Greek exam and have consequently banned myself from WoW until it's over on Monday.
Dan Jan 17th 2009 11:40AM
When I get home from work I hope to level my Paladin some more so I can catch up to my fiancee. Running a few instances would be nice, and I would like to hit up the Amphitheater of Anguish and get myself a shmexxy axe.
Dreadskull Jan 17th 2009 12:23PM
Now that I've survived my first (rough for various reasons) week of the new semester of college, I actually might work on leveling my Warlock some more XD Or just continue working up fishing/cooking on my Death Knight... /shrug
Nabikula Jan 17th 2009 12:58PM
I'm going to be stocking up on buff food ingredients for the raid tonight. Second dps stand-by, so I most likely won't be needed. Then I'm going to be working on my little pally alt so that the guild can have a regular and to allow the other healers a little leeway in trying something different.
Kylenne Jan 17th 2009 1:29PM
I'll be trying to hit 30 on my lock alt before I have to start packing for my trip to DC for the inauguration. :)
Oh, who am I kidding, my game discs will get packed with me and I'll end up sulking at Tarren Mill tomorrow on my sister's machine after some dbag Ally DK tears through the quest givers again. QQ

Come play on Emerald Dream, its RP-PVP and pretty much dead; but, My friends and i get a lot of kicks making up ridiculous backstories for our adventurers, there just isnt a lot going on with the server, so we'll have to bring the fun and games to it.
[btw, you don't have to worry about vampires if no one is rping ;)] for that matter, why don't people use all the options MyRolePlay has to offer? the backstory option is uber sweet cool for lack of better description (and i doubt such a better description exists, heyo!!!!!)
