Breakfast Topic: I can't show off my flying mount in Dalaran

I've been having a lot of fun with my buddy. It's pretty cool riding around the skies of Northrend and Outland on such a classic-feeling WoW mount, especially since I've been a fan of the bronze flight since helping them do some bug extermination back in the day. One thing does bother me a bit, though: It's pretty tough to show this dude off.
Since there's that whole no-fly zone thing in effect in Dalaran, just floating in front of the bank and letting everyone bask in the glory of my super-awesome dragon mount just isn't an option anymore. It's sort of a bummer. Luckily, I still look pretty swanky with my Deathcharger's Reins, but even so, I'd sort of like to look cool with the whole dragon rider thing too.
So I suppose today's Breakfast Topic has a few questions I can ask: Are you in the "showing off your stuff at the bank" stage of your Wrath career yet, or do you see a lot of people who are? Are you sort of bummed that you can't show off your favorite new flying mount like I am?

I was so disappointed with the size of Dalaran when I got there the first time.

Also, if you take the port to the top of the mage tower, you can fly down and wander around at the base without being dismounted.

You can also fly to the steps of the bank to the left of the tower right as you step on the balcony. Just make sure to fly low across the buildings. As long as you don't enter "Dalaran" you won't get dismounted.
I usually just hang out in front of the bank on my mount and feed off the puzzled looks.

Yea it's pretty disappointing. Dalaran is too cramped as well I think. It would look absurd having enourmous dragons floating everywhere in a really small floating city.
I must admit I quite enjoyed Shattrath.

Personally I'm glad they removed it. No more stupid noises, and the city feels more like a normal city.

I don't mind the no fly zone. I do wish Dalaran would be a no-pet zone. Too many times I've seen a "huntard" with a rhino or a Devilsaur move to the fountain and his pet blocks the other people trying to fish.

No mammoths too, just the other day I saw 7+ of them in the fountain annoying the people trying to fish...

Yes, I've seen people fishing cuss out the mammoth riders in both horde and alliance.
Maybe a Pedestrian only Dalaran would be best

I don't go out of my way to show off. I figure there are a lot of raiders who have all the T7, which I don't. (I occasionally get some "nice gear" whispers over gear coming from rep gear, but I think it must be more like a "grats" comment over hitting the rep than the quality of the gear itself)
I do like riding around on the rarer mounts of course. I do the Polar Bear mount because 1) it is fairly rare in Dalaran and more importantly 2) It is small and I can ride through low obstacles I could not do on other mounts. It's going to break my heart when 3.0.8 hits and makes the bear as big as other bears. I want my "subcompact" bear!
Guess when the patch hits, I'll go back to my Black War Bear because it was an achievement rather than a lucky drop

To be honest, I'd stick with the polar bear. /Everyone/ has a black war bear these days, and noone has the polar bear. It's far cooler. :)

True. I've not decided yet. I just wish the polar bear would stay small. It's my favorite because of the size. Being small it gives the illusion of going faster (even though it is all the same), and I like being able to ride through doorways... as a Draenei, I get hung up on doors other races can ride through.
And in SW, when waterwalking, I can ride under the bridges which makes it all faster than riding on land.

Agreed! It's all about the Polar Bear. I didn't even know it was a rare drop until I got mine. I like it being smaller, too.

Yeah I love my minibear. However I'm glad I have it on my girl space-goat and not the boy one. It would look kind of silly with a big fat draenei lad on top, and besides I'd be bound to have the good folks at DEHTA wanting to collect my ears as punishment for cruel and unusual bear-squashing.
My shaman lad really does need to lay off on the Feasts.

No idea how there are little Draenei running around as ugly as the males are ;-)
Looking at the Draenei, I wonder if the designers were watching tentacle hentai when designing them/

Agreed. There's always at least one loser that sits on one of the various colors of proto drakes for 5+ hours at a time at either the fp or one of the various points you can hop on your flying mount in Dalaran. I've always had a hatred for people who go out of their way to show off.

Actually, I'm with you on that one.
However I'm not saying the good old days were bad, where epics actually were epics, when you've gotten that phat piece of (preferably visable) loot, to see a swarm of people around you just by standing at the mailbox in Orgrimmar.
Its just not the same these days, especially not with Naxx being so easy, whats there to show off anyway?
Oh how I miss thee Crown of Destruction and Spinal Reaper :P
