We only recruit pugs from our raids. In 5 mans or heroics we tend not to take people because they end up not being as good as we thought :(

An example of this would be; We need a few good shadow priests with alot of hit for heroic naxx, so we pug some, and see how they do. We then invite the ones we (the officers) like and we try to get their gear, or their skill up to par for the fight.

That way may not be the best way, or the most reliable way to recruit good players, but we aim not to embarrass ourselves in trade channel with a bunch of spam about us, or be the biggest guild on the server, with only 20 active members.
