Hearthstone also displays your characters on Facebook

Just like I Play WoW, Hearthstone pulls your character information directly from the Armory, and displays it in a number of ways around Facebook, including, if you so choose, on your profile pages or on your wall. A few of our commenters said they liked Hearthstone's display better, but I didn't see any major differences there -- they both display your character, class, level, and server, and both will click through to pages where you can see more stats and discuss the character with others. Hearthstone will also let you change your character's image to a custom choice and enter a bio, though I Play WoW has some customization options as well. Hearthstone has an "equipment history," so even if you shard those epics you can still brag about having them. And finally,Hearthstone will let you play with the characters right on Facebook, and you can /salute or /duel the characters of your friends.
Overall, they're both worth checking out if you want to show off some of your World of Warcraft progress on Facebook. Obviously, I Play WoW is bigger, but as our commenters pointed out, Hearthstone has some excellent features as well.

Hi Kelly,
I'm sorry to hear you have been having troubles.
If you want to contact me via the app's discussion boards, or directly on Facebook I'll see if we can resolve what ever it is.

Armory-displaying plugins/apps/widgets are awesome!
Here's one for Wordpress. ;)

Dunno where my link went, sorry:

Hearthstone has my vote.
It was the only app that "worked" for my extended-ascii character names (which are perfectly legal with WoW, FYI).
miked Jan 19th 2009 7:13PM
justify it however you want, everyone else hates your non-ascii characters.
Jennifer Jan 19th 2009 7:24PM
Blame Blizzard. ;)
1) The 30-day character re-naming CD prevented me from using the non-extended-ASCII version when I switched mains.
2) People being able to type my name is not always a good thing -- for example, I don't get many psts from random pugs, goldspammers, et al
3) I have a total of 22 characters above level 60, 17 of which are level 70 or above, and 10 of those are 71+. I am done thinking up names.
Vyndree, then Vyndre, then Vyndrei, then Vyndrii, then Vyndry, then Vyndryy.... I just flat ran out.
4) Blizzard HAD a rule that outlaw'ed extended ASCII. They removed it. Don't like it? QQ to them.
Since Blizzard allows extended ASCII, so should apps that plan on integrating with Blizzard products. Blizzard also operates in foreign countries, so I'd imagine extended ASCII is commonplace particularly if it's part of the region's locale and language. If apps don't support extended ASCII, they don't support people who play on foreign WoW servers (and, believe it or not, there ARE english-speaking folks who travel to other countries -- I personally know of one who traveled to China and uses Chinese WoW to help him keep up on his foreign language skills)

Unfortunately I think this post just caused the app to go into meltdown :)
Please be patient potential new fans!

There was a period of about 15 minutes there when things were not responding quickly enough. I've got it all resolved now -- except for the armory delays which are no longer getting well trapped -- the EU armory in particular has been really slow today and if it times out during the add, it'll fail and you'll have to try again.
I'll respond more when I'm sure things are operating smoothing.

I have an urge to claim other people's toons, just to see how their system works with sorting it out.
*devilish grin*
Awesome application though. Now I can show my friends what I do with my free time. Lol

It happens very rarely. More often than not, the person added the US or the EU realm instead of their own, and they had a common enough name that it matched.
If it ever really becomes a problem, screenshot or it didn't happen -- send over a cap of your character selection screen.

I prefer Hearthstone over I Play Wow, because it pull info from the armory about your achievements and leveling. Great job Chris!
Ilem Jan 20th 2009 7:13AM
Hearthstone is a pretty neat app. Of course, I'm spamming my achievements to everyone else on Facebook (proudly!), but it's nice that HS pulls this and all kinds of other information from the Armory.
Thanks Chris!

Armory's down for the moment. Consequently, the app won't add toons. Temporary situation (hopefully). Disappointed, 'cause I really wanted to play with this app this morning. QQ
Looks most excellent.
