Garona's return to Azeroth
Apparently DC first announced this last October, but it's the first I've heard of it: Garona Halforcen is coming back to World of Warcraft. Garona has been a fan favorite character ever since the early RTS games -- she's a half-orc Rogue who originally assassinated King Llane of the Alliance (under one of Medivh's spells and working unintentionally for the Shadow Council). But she's been MIA for a while -- until now. DC's next World of Warcraft comic, number 18, has Garona reappearing in Azeroth, supposedly working with the Twilight's Hammer, and possibly even secretly aligned with the Scourge. Not necessarily an auspicious re-entrance, but with Garona, just like Jack Bauer, you never know who she's really working for or why. Blizzard has always made it clear that they were going to have her appear in World of Warcraft -- early in the beta, she was actually the leader of the Rogue Ravenholdt faction, though she was later removed from the manor there. The DC comic drops on April 15, and it wouldn't be a surprise to finally see everyone's favorite half-orc rogue in the game sometime after that.

Wait. The Hammer and the Scourge are very much at odds with each other.
So... she's a Scourge spy in the Twilight Hammer?
Woah. And I thought double Wrynns was messed up.
I can't tell if this is original or just stupid.
Jinvasha Jan 21st 2009 2:37PM
Maybe it's the first hint of originality in a comic that's been stupid right from the beginning.
But it's still stupid.
Hardy Jan 20th 2009 6:30PM
It depends.
Yes the Twilight Hammer is aligned with the Old Gods.
But Arthas..Or sorry, the Lich King... Where does he stand now?
He's no longer aligned with the Burning Legion and he IS sitting right on top of an Old God and a citadel made from parts of and Old God.
Maybe the Old Gods influence is more porwerful then the Lich Kings will.
If the Old Gods can get into the heads of Titan sentinels (Loken) then I'm sure there's the plausibility of them getting in the head of Arthas.

So have they decided what her other half is yet?

it's human. it says this in the books.
skreeran Jan 21st 2009 8:27AM
Wrong! We still don't know.
Besides, if it was human, how do you explain her being a young woman at the time the orcs crossed over throguh the Dark Portal? There were no humans on Draenor.

Everyone's favorite lore anomaly returns.
Ugkul Jan 20th 2009 8:33PM
One of several thousand, it seems.

This is HUGE lore wize!
I want the gaps filled in between now and the last time we saw her. She sort of dissapired after killing our King's daddy, but why? Was she running from humans? was she ashamed? Or as Gul'dan was quickly dispatched by Doomhammer, was it the orcs she was running from?
So she was taken out of the game, it suggests that bliazzard has an impressive story planned for her!
I can't wait to see what revelations we'll get.

I'm not usually one to comment about people's artistic talent... but is her other half Octopus? How the hell can her hip let her thigh bend like that? Is her shoulder dislocated to allow her to hold the axe like that? I'm enjoying the Ashbringer comic, though (Darion "Cloudo" Mograine and all).
She IS half-draenei though. I guess that would make her one-quarter squid.
AyaJulia Jan 20th 2009 5:47PM
Honestly, I read your comment, looked at the picture again, and tried the pose. (Yes, I looked ridiculous, stop laughing. Seriously. Stop. Ok, I'll wait.... ;))
It wasn't really that hard. I couldn't see something like that ever becoming NATURAL to me in an adrenaline-soaked battle situation, but that's where the suspension of disbelief comes in, I guess. But yeah. It wasn't that tough.

the horde is curiously lacking in female heroes. the change is a welcome one, however, i would love it if the horde would gain more female 'hero' or role-model types. the alliance has janda proudmore, however the horde has no such equivalent. that is something i would like to see changed.
(im male, just fyi)
Sakinah Jan 20th 2009 4:27PM
Eh. Jaina's wishy-washy and useless. And the only other thing....been to UC lately? Or have you not met our lovely Dark Lady? I mean, sure, I guess *anybody* could break free of Arthas' will and take a bunch of his people with her.
The Horde has their female heroes. You just have to know where to look.
SaintStryfe Jan 20th 2009 4:34PM
She's not female. She's a corpse who wasn't smart enough to stay dead.
Daniel Whitcomb Jan 20th 2009 4:55PM
At this point, Jaina's as much a Horde hero as she is an Alliance hero, really, if not more so, given certain events in Wrath.
Pyornthe Jan 20th 2009 4:57PM
You know what I want to see? I want to see some non-half-naked female heros; that's what I want.
Or, I would be equally satisfied with a scantily clad attractive male figure. ;)
Your choice blizzard.
Lemons Jan 20th 2009 5:18PM
hey she's dressed like that for a very specific reason!
umm..
cuts down on air resistance?
yeah!
When you're a rogue you can never ambush fast enuf :P
Kia Jan 20th 2009 6:56PM
Don't forget about Lady Liadrin!
Balasan Jan 20th 2009 11:24PM
Using a Female Tauren Druid, I never felt a connection to The Dark Lady, Sylvannas. The Forsaken have always been distant from the orcs, the taurens and the trolls, so even though both Lady Sylvannas and Lady Liadrin are significant female horde heroes and definitely are respected in their own way, they just don't feel 'horde'-y enough type of heroes.
Bring back Garona! She's the only badass female orc around! Geyah doesn't count. And we need female troll heroes too. Loot pinatas in ZG doesn't count.
JLocke Jan 20th 2009 4:23PM
Jack Bauer is the man! and apparently so is that orc lol
