Has anyone read the wow comic lately? It sucks. I wish they'd leave all thier two-dimensional characters out of the game or at least not..you know, make them the main characters of WOTLK.If you didn't read the boring dribble that was this comic book, you would have no idea who Varrian Wyrm was or that other annoying blood elf chick. You want to give them a cameo? Fine. But don't expect us to have to keep up with second rate manga and comics just to undertsand what's going on. And Don't base the entire revival of an important character on outside game products as well.

The portrayal of Valeera Sanguinar in the WoW comic is nothing like people expected. If you saw the original artwork that Blizzard commissioned by Wei Wang, you thought she would be tough and aggressive. Instead she's brooding and whiny.I guess the retcon will tell us that the blood elf rogue in the artwork and in the comic book aren't the same character.

Nothing in this game requires knowledge of outside sources to enjoy. All of it is explained by characters within the world, if you just listen to what they're saying.Varian Wrynn was the lost king, and there's a huge quest chain leading up to the revelation that he was lost in the first place; you don't have to read the literature to find out what he was doing in that time, because it's not directly important to our characters. (Honestly, how would they even know about it unless they happen to overhear it somewhere?) It exists as a little aside, for those curious about some of the goings-on in the world. We never had confirmation of his death, which statistically means he's definitely alive and well somewhere in the world, and would probably be coming back soon. It's a story-telling thing.Another example would be the whole Kael'thas /Vashj situation. There is plenty of explanation for this in-game, if you listen to everyone. That whole matter that took place in Warcraft III is just a little aside, for people who want to research something into the background of the world. As for the characters all being flat and boring, that kind of comes with the territory. There's a long history of great fantasy worlds full of bland, one-dimensional characters. (Tolkien springs to mind.) Keep in mind that we only see as much of these characters as is presented in-game; if everyone was complex and complicated with nuanced feelings on every situation, it would be impossible to follow the plot *without* resorting to the supplemental sources.

No idea who Varian Wrynn is? He's the king of Stormwind, for crying out loud; sure, he hasn't been physically present in WOW for a pretty long time, but he's hardly some obscure lore figure or Johnny-come-lately introduced via the books.

Yeah, Varian Wrynn... the guy who was the subject of a questline that stopped abruptly and slapped over with a poor retcon ending: "Go to Stormwind and tell the... er king that he was... kidnapped"File with Alcaz Island, the Eranikus trinket quest and Ulduam for WTF items
