Hunter aspects bugged in 3.0.8
We covered a couple of known bugs in 3.0.8 yesterday, namely some animation errors (which we're anxiously awaiting being able to log into the game and grab some video of), and some problems with casting of the Warlock spell Ritual of Summoning. And now Hunters have a bug:
Some Hunter aspects "behave" as if they have a global cooldown.
This should not be, and will be fixed soon (we assume). Patch 3.0.8 was going to remove them, but alas we'll have to wait to have this function properly.
As far as what aspects are bugged, and under what conditions, we don't know yet. Keep an eye out later when the realms are up for more information.

Wow hunter bugs I can hear the QQ coming now that is all that has been going on lately. I see so many DK's that have to be rerolled huntards.

NO NO..Please don't mess up my ritual of summoning! Please Please...
Lyraat Jan 20th 2009 12:43PM
Yes! First we have a bugs and great dps. Now we have bugs and nerfed dps. Next up, in patch 3.1, bugs and no dps!

I don't see any situation where this could be a problem. If I remember correctly, global cooldown is 1.5 seconds. Where would changing aspects twice in under 1.5 seconds be a necessity?
AyaJulia Jan 20th 2009 12:50PM
Basically only if you fat-finger your keybinds and need to correct it quickly. "Oh crap, mob inc, better put up Dragonhawk... CRAP that was Aspect of the Daze! Fix fix fix!"
...which isn't going to happen that often, really, hah. The point is that they aren't supposed to have a cooldown, not that the cooldown is a problem. :)

Uhm, I can't think about anything as well, but wait, maybe... oooh, its comming... almost there.... MACROS

The "GLOBAL" in "Global cooldown" might give away the core of the dismay here...
Brian Jan 20th 2009 12:49PM
OMG a global cooldown! Gods save us all! Oh woe! Oh Fie! Heavens to Betsy! Really, come on now it's not like it matters in the grand scheme of things. This is for the theorycrafters on EJ who worry about half a second of inefficiency in a 5 second fight.
Brian Jan 20th 2009 1:00PM
You switch aspects within 1.5 seconds? why? Dragonhawk does hawk and monkey and viper is going to do diddly squat in under 1.5 seconds. So that leaves what? Pack, beast and the wild, why would you obther with them in 'high end PvP' what ever the hell that is. If you are talking about arenas aspects are the least of your worries.
And you can shove your dino, I've got a core hound and a spirit beast and my bear tanked boss adds in MC at level 60. :) (He only had to had them off for 10 seconds then they were dead)

Who's talking about cool downs being bothersome when switching from one aspect to another... it trigers the GOLBAL cooldown, and it isn't supposed to. That means swapping an aspect keeps you from shooting that next aimed shot for 1.5 seconds... Is it a game breaker, NO, but it is a bug. It's pretty much business as usual, but this was supposed to be fixed in the patch.

Well, reaffirming the stereotype has always been my forte, and that being said, yes, I am a huntard re-rolled to a DK, deal with it, and have a cookie.
I must say, I'm glad to be out of the hunter community. But that doesn't mean I can't still feel their pain.
Let's do a quick recap on what wrath as brought us, while I beat my head against a wall.
Let's not forget, first and foremost, that Blizzard has YET to fix the Survival tree. It was stated in the wrath beta that trap mastery would be moved further down in the tree as an admitted "filler" talent, and that after wraths launch, they would give us a talent that we didn't have to wipe our asses with. Has this happened? Nope.
What HAVE we gotten? Well, a month of high end arena play due to an oversight on blizzards part. Dual BW is silly, and it's their fault for not seeing that.
Oooooo, we've gotten new pet talents! Great! Everyone loves to micromanage, right? Pfffff. Plus lets not forget the fact that our pet abilities are still bugged. Damn autocast...
Aspect of the Dragon-seal-monkey-bat-godzilla-panther... ug, now our aspects are bugged too, great, thanks.
Hey, everyone likes nerfs, right? Especially hunters. That's why you play a hunter, right? Everyone loves a good gimping.
Now, nerfs are fine, and happen to everyone. My purpose for writing this post is to say how insane I think it is that Blizz can spend so much time trying to balance the classes, and totally neglect basic class necessities such as removing filler talents, fixing EASILY fixable bugs, and getting rid of useless abilities. Come on, fix things before you start to nerf them.
woca Jan 20th 2009 2:27PM
qq more. im a hunter and i do fine. survival is fine at 80 if your gear isnt shit. i rolled the class partly for pet, so pet points are great. aspects trigger global cooldown, o no! it should be fixed soon and having aspect of monkey and hawk mixed is awesome. last time i checked hunters got a pretty good expansion
woca Jan 20th 2009 2:28PM
wow, name is qqball.... well i'd guess you were a troll but that would have taken too long to write, so go qq else where
bendak Jan 20th 2009 12:59PM
People who think GCD isn't a big deal obviously have no experience in arena, or even the small effect it will have on raid dps if you have to swap aspects. GCD on aspect = 1 less special shot fired each time.
Brian Jan 20th 2009 1:04PM
one less shot in a fight of a hundred shots? there's only one reason to switch aspects in a boss fight and that's mana at which point you are gimping yourself so much it doesn't matter.
bendak Jan 20th 2009 1:12PM
@Brian:
There's nothing wrong with trying to squeeze out every last bit of DPS. DPS should be under just as much pressure as a tank or healer to perform.
Besides, the real issue is PVP. a GCD at the wrong time could mean death.
Quaeras Jan 20th 2009 3:00PM
Back when Aq20 was new, There was a big allowing you to have cheetah and hawk at the same time if you zoned in to the instance just right. That was fun.
mysticalos Jan 20th 2009 1:03PM
What i find funny is how many hunters are crying nerfed and gimped but we raid with plenty of hunters who do just fine. In fact one of our very highest raid dpsers is a hunter. Honestly, every single class swears up and down they are nerfed too much. If this was a post about mages, or warlocks, you'd have a few dozen comments from those classes QQing instead. Get over it and get better at class. Learn how to adapt to the changes like other people. When they change your class, figure out what they did and how to work with it. Post constructive feedback on forums if there is a problem, but whining is exactly why blizzard never takes any feedback seriously. I'm glad GC has been banning all of the whiners lately on forums.
bendak Jan 20th 2009 1:09PM
I am over it, and so are many other hunters. We've already adapted and there's already a new cookie cutter spec even before the patch goes live. Blizzard essentially buffed one spec and nerfed another. No one's QQing about that... just the Aspects bug which is annoying. Repeat, its a BUG, not a design decision by blizzard.
