Patch 3.0.8 download mirror [Updated]
Out sister site Big Download has hosted the patch files to bring WoW up from its previous version, 3.0.3, to the current version of 3.0.8. The patch itself is 56megs, and the Blizzard downloader has been known to lag out when everyone gets home from work / school in the evening.Head over to Big D and grab the download. The servers are ran by AOL folks, our parent company, and promise to have super-fast speeds. And best of all? There are no annoying
Take a look after the break for Non-US/NA patch files.
We have all the latest information from the patch, from the notes to bugs (and more bugs), to a comprehensive overview of everything 3.0.8.
Happy patch day!

mmm link mirror monopoly!
Amaxe Jan 20th 2009 2:52PM
Not really a monopoly. You can go elsewhere. WI simply doesn't want a lot of hate mail if a commentator links to a bad site and people get hosed from it.
I'm just glad I did the Blizzard torrent while there was no traffic

Jordan Jan 20th 2009 2:50PM
Anyone have a link to a Mac download? The Blizzard app is messing up my download and I need to find one that might work.
Chris McCorkle Jan 20th 2009 2:51PM
Sorry can't provide.

Honestly the patch is small.. took me 4 mins when it usually takes HOURS with the blizzard downloader.. i know people don't trust blizz's stuff but a mirror for this one is slightly excessive.
Amaxe Jan 20th 2009 2:54PM
I'd use it more, but on the big ones you can be looking at 8+ hrs to download. Small ones... usually its done by the time you can even find a reliable mirror site, so why bother looking for one?

apparently the realms are down for 2 more hours for extended maintenance. Here's hoping they are up before I get home from work :)

Thanks, for people like me that are at work and don't feel like waiting on the Blizzard downloader when I get home.

"The servers are ran by AOL folks"
...really? Good lord. Do you even read this stuff before you hit the publish button?

I've actually never used the mirrors yet.
I imagine all you do is put the file in the main WoW folder?
then Run it.

I keep getting an error message when trying to dl/install this patch through the Blizzard Updater. It says " This update requires "WoW.exe" version 3.0.3.9183. You have an older version, 0.0.8.9386." Anyone know what this means? How can I not have the most up -to-date patch if I played up until server shutdown?
Amaxe Jan 20th 2009 3:21PM
I might be wrong, but isn't 0.0.8 a PTR build?
Optimuze Jan 20th 2009 3:24PM
Ahh, so maybe it is trying to update the PTR and not the actual game...Is this correct?
Joost Jan 20th 2009 3:25PM
Dam when is the EU version coming? I mean like the patch is there, give it to us :D

I really dislike this post. I agree; downloading the patch faster is a good thing. But, blizzard has said time and time again to only trust their websites and their downloaders and "use at your own risk" on anything else. Sure, you can say this website is reputable and trustworthy but the only place I will trust for my patches is blizzard. Blizzard has made it very clear that the reason people get their accounts hacked is because of something on their end; even one of your posters busted the myth about blizzard having security holes. Why go somewhere else that may or may not be secure(depending on who you talk to); instead of just getting it from the source who you "know" is secure.

People often go to mirrors because the Blizzard download system can have trouble. Sometimes ISPs restrict torrent traffic, sometimes a direct download link will be overwealmed, etc... That is not the case with the files provided by Big Download.
Further, we get the patch files directly from Blizzard. When you speak of viruses in files, do you have any evidence these files are corrupt?
If no, I ask that you please stop spreading unsubstantiated rumors.
Thanks.

I totally agree. Security is only as strong as your weakest link. Blizzard generated the patch in a secure environment. Once the file leaves that secure environment you can not be sure of said files integrity.
Let me put it this way. I have worked in IT security for 10+ years. I will be getting my patch from Blizzard.
