The Queue: Patch 3.0.8 is here!

Good news, everyone! We have a guest star today on The Queue! Yes, that's right, a very special guest! Well, sort of. I guess she's not that special after all, but our resident Feral Druid guru chimed in to answer a Bear question yesterday, and she answered it better than I ever could. Our first question of the day is hers to handle, then it's back to me. Because you all love me, right?
thon asked...
I've had a lot of heated debate on the current def cap of Druid Bear Tanks. Is there one if specced into Survival of the Fittest? Is it lower than a normal tank class? I'd love to be able to tell them for certain to pipe down!
Allison Robert replied...
With 3/3 Survival of the Fittest, you do not need any +defense whatsoever as a bear tank. Your chance to be crit by the highest-level raid mob (83) is 5.6%, and 3/3 SotF will reduce your chance to be crit by a flat 6%.
What's more, SotF also "scales" in the sense that any mob 3 levels higher than you will always have a 5.6% chance to crit you, so even in the next expansion you are crit-immune through the next 3 levels of mobs, no matter what level you are.
So as a bear tank you don't need a lick of +defense to be crit immune, which is both a huge advantage and also a giant relief after the hell of staying crit-immune in BC. For the record, the +dodge you get from +defense scales better than your agility to dodge conversion past 50% dodge, so it's not like +defense is entirely useless, but now you don't have to go looking for it in order to tank.
Tricia asked...
Awhile back there was a report on the bug concerning Toughness level 3. I was wondering if there was any report on this being fixed yet or not?
As of last night, it was not fixed. However, today is patch 3.0.8 and it will be fixed in that patch. By the time you read this, the fix will probably have been rolled out already.
Bazuzu asked...
Has there been any news on whether tailors will gain any buffs similar to what other classes have? These cloak embroideries just aren't doing it for me.
What Tailors have is what Tailors have. I wouldn't be surprised if additional embroideries and items were added in content patches (such as patch 3.1, the Ulduar patch) but as far as we know, the available embroideries is all you have.
Pickypants asked...
With epics seemingly easier to get in Wrath, does the reputation grind really net you anything other than high level recipes for JC and the like? As a tank, I remember grinding CoT rep for the legs, Aldor rep for the shield. Those items were replaced in raiding soon enough, but I needed the stats in order to tank said raids.
Generally, the reputations aren't as important as they were before, but they can still be useful. With the Championing system, you can pick specific items you might want and work on those alongside chasing drops. For example, I used a Wyrmrest Accord tabard first. My ultimate goal was the Red Drake, but Sandals of Crimson Fury were on the way there and I figured whichever Cloth boots came to me first, I'd wear. If it was a drop, fantastic. If I had to go all the way to Exalted with Wyrmrest, well, I was running the Heroics already. Why not get the rep?
The other benefit to reputation is all of them have 'extra' items at high rep levels, like the Red Drake I mentioned. There's plenty of fun, vanity items to get your hands on. There's also factions like the Sons of Hodir which you can't Champion, but are still very important.
So grinding rep is still worthwhile, but not as urgent as it was in The Burning Crusade. You can do it, it helps to do it, but you don't have to do it.
Aigarius said...
The mage that ports you to Wintersgarsp during the battle also says taht you can use the portal at any time when your faction controls the Wintergrasp between battles, but... there is no portal. Is that a know bug? Are they gonna fix that?
It's a known bug, but I don't actually know if it's being fixed or not. We'll find out when the realms come up this afternoon, I'm sure!

Being AFK in a battleground (or at least being reported as such) DOES have an effect nowadays. There used to be (and may still be) honor leechers in BGs who join up and AFK in the starting area. This was particularly true in AV (see http://www.wowinsider.com/2007/07/17/welcome-to-alterac-valley-you-can-go-afk-now/)
To prevent this, Blizzard introduced a feature wherein you can report others AFK. A single report against you will not do much, but multiple (the exact number is not known) reports WILL mark you as AFK, in which case you do not gain honor at all until you engage in combat.
Of course, pranksters jumped on this, and have created special emotes that say "has reported you AFK." This is usually followed by a way to prove otherwise, like by typing "/afk" (which will boot you out of the BG).
If I were you, I'd just ignore these. They're just pranksters out to have a good time.

Anyone remember the Gates of AQ world event? I thought it was awesome, I had a lot of fun doing the quest line and added a lot cohesiveness between factions. You think Blizzard will ever do another World Event like that again? I think it would be so much cooler then adding a short attunement quest line to gain access. Blizzard really needs to go back to its roots and remember what made the game awesome. I really miss it when having a purple piece meant something more. Anyways, I leave it to you guys.
P.S. They could make it a race between Horde and Alliance, add an achievement being part of the faction completing the World Event, and give them a certain title, mount, or notable item to gloat to the enemy.

Well, there was the SSO and (not as much) Scourge invasion before LK. Not nearly as "epic" as AQ, but still fun.

It sounds like the two of you play together... so i would say go for it.
The best way to find something out is to give it a try.

I was wondering if there has been anything mentioned about the Handwraps of Preserved History having their stats changed, because I have seen in different places that people are saying they are over budgeted.

Question:
Has blizzard said anything about buffing the drops for the Frenzyheart jar to make it more equivilant to the Oracle egg?

This is sort of a small vanity matter, but:
with all the new raids and reps, Blizz has now given us the option to ride every type of dragon except for the Green and Infinite. Any ideas on if we'll ever see mounts for those? My best guess for Infinites is much like the Black or Twilight, downing a new CoT raid in 'Hard' mode, but I'd like to see what you guys think.

So when will my mount(s) learn to swim?

I was just wondering if there is any reason why to this day Blizzard haven't added a healing class to the Gnome race.
They are personally my favourite race, and I prefer to play a healer, having raided as both a shaman and a paladin over the last 3+ years.
Is there anything in the WoW Lore that says Gnome healers do not exist? Is it likely any of the current healer classes will ever be added into the game as Gnomes? If the next hero class has a healing tree, is it likely that Blizzard will allow all races to create one like the Deathknights? Thanks for any help

I have a question about the mining change in 3.0.8. (I know, right.) I'm not an idiot so I understand that you don't just receive one tap worth of ore but do you receive EXACTLY the same amount you would have pre-3.0.8? The patch notes state "Players will receive around the same amount of ore, stone, and gems they would have received from multiple hits." What exactly does that 'around' mean? Did they just stick it in there for chuckles? Or do we now receive a different amount then we would have? Other than that 'around' I applaud this change.

This may seem silly, but I swear that when I have my pet cobra out from the Oracles egg - every so often I hear a baby murloc. Can anyone confirm that my cobra is the reason why, or is there another reason? I wish I could get a baby murloc pet!
Thanks. =)
