Tuesday Morning Post: 3.0.8 for real this time
Okay, I know, I know, I said I wouldn't predict 3.0.8 again, but well, now it's safe to do so. So I'm going to like, unofficially say now that I am a bit bummed that I may not be able to sell my Relics of Ulduar for my motorcycle fund, but am happy I will be able to get me some extra Sons of Hodir faction since I've been slacking on those dailies.Anyway, with a patch comes a lot of downtime, so as usual, I'd suggest some WoW Insider reading. You'll find a list of some of the major articles and new stories of the past week after the break, with the 3.0.8 stuff up top so you can get up to speed before the servers come up.
3.0.8 Hot News and Analysis
- If you were planning to reroll a Death Knight on a server where you didn't have a 55 before, 3.0.8's finally going to be your big chance.
- While this is probably patch day, they were patching the test servers up til the last few days. Here's a list of some of the latest changes.
- Rep grinders rejoice! Grey mobs no longer have a reputation gain penalty in 3.0.8.
- Don't panic! There's a few bugs going live with 3.0.8, but they're already working on hotfixes.
- Or do panic. Adam wants you to remember that Patch notes don't always survive the transition from test to live intact.
- Encrypted Text is patiently waiting for 3.0.8. Which is sort of making us nervous. Dang Rogues.
- Shifting Perspectives looked at Druids in 3.0.8.
- Blood Pact is also looking forward to 3.0.8. Which is also sort of making us nervous. Warlocks are creepy.
- Paladins are doing well and about to get better in 3.0.8, says The Light and How to Swing It.
- Some Achievements are getting easier in 3.0.8, Including some dungeon achievements such as Gotta Go!
- There's a minor but actually somewhat disappointing change for the Arcanite Ripper in 3.0.8.
- A nice bonus for engineers: The Scrapbot will be able to repair in "a future patch." We're pulling for 3.0.8.
- Sorry tanks. Titanguard's gone after all.
- Wondering when your server will come back up? Sign up for an Email!
- Here's one of the more controversial subjects we've reported on in a while: WoW downtime insurance. It was such an intriguing topic we even tracked down the founders for a few words.
- Talents were considered one of the greatest new features of WoW when they first comes out. So what happens when you eschew them completely?
- Have you been trying for the Figure Print lottery with no luck? Here's some good news: There's no more lottery.
- Ever wonder how many people actually rolled a Gnome Death Knight? GamerDNA and Massively investigate Death Knight numbers.
- If you're a Warrior or Death Knight tank who's been having less trouble keeping aggro lately, you may have a hotfix to thank.
- Priests have gotten a bit of one-on-one time with Ghostcrawler over on the healing boards.
- Shamans and Warlocks also had a chance to get some TLC from GC (Yeah, I promised myself I'd never use the GC abbreviation, but I couldn't resist).
- The above, of course, got Totem Talk to thinking.
- The Care and Feeding of Warriors continues to look at raid gear.
- Getting ready to tank Naxxramas as a Death Knight? Check out our tanking gear guide.
- We also have a healy priest pre-Naxxramas gear guide.
- Ghostcrawler recently had a few things to say about resilience.
- So you just dinged 80. Are you really ready for Heroics?
- Having trouble with money? Maybe you need some financial discipline.
- Having trouble with loot drama in PuGs? See if some of these tips help smooth things out.
- Here's something to watch during the downtime: A new episode of The Guild!
- Here's a blast from the past for all you veterans and a nice history lesson for you newbies: The Lament of Captain Placeholder.
- What's a healer to do when the tank is unfaithful?
- Lorelol. What does it mean? Is it even really a justifiable turn of phrase? See what the new guy thinks.

"Looks like not in America this week"
I read what you said. Maybe YOU should read what you said.

Good thing it is a school day so maybe your junior high will teach you something of sentence structure and logic:
The full sentence was:
"Looks like not in America this week, unless Blizz is late getting the patch available for download. "
see:
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/unless
especially the part reading "except on the condition that"
Translated, what I said conveyed the meaning of
1) Either there is no patch for America
OR
2) Blizzard is late getting it up.
The second part of the sentence is kind of crucial to get the meaning across of what I said.
It's really a sad commentary on the educational system that I have to explain it

Please, don't feed the trolls. Bad for your health....

Anggrath, you are a troll and should be banned from this site.

For all you impatient idiots, LOOK! A PATCH!
There is no set time for Blizzard to release a patch during a downtime window, so saying they are late is not correct.
And for all you idiots that don't understand English, when someone says "Looks like no patch for America this week" after it was clearly stated it was released in Europe already, is someone that doesn't understand common sense business practice. Like I said, Blizzard would NEVER release a major patch like this for Europe, then release it for America a week later.
Also, I am not holding onto any errors. If anyone is holding onto an error, it would be you. You arguing with me like this shows who the real child is and points out you have little to no common sense.
Amaxe Jan 20th 2009 1:07PM
Actually, as I pointed out, what I said covered both contingencies of no patch or patch.
L2Read. You look less foolish that way

Keep making yourself look dumb. GG

"Apparently you can't read. THE EU SERVERS ARE ALREADY PATCHED."
That's EU, The US realms will NOT be patched today. My insider tells me there was a problem and it will not go live until next Tuesday the 27th.
Anggrath Jan 20th 2009 8:30AM
Are you insane? Blizzard would NEVER leave a major patch like this on Europe servers and not put it on US even if there were problems. They would be rolling them both back.
Eversor Jan 20th 2009 8:56AM
Ahem. EU patch day is tomorrow. It always has and always will be Wednesday. For US, patch and maintenance day is Tuesday. Sheesh...
Also, the problem of people not getting patch is because either Blizz dowload servers are down or a slight bug in the launcher. I'd suggest you to go to WoW folder and try to launch the updater there seeral (2-5) times, that's how I managed to keep downloading patch 3.0.2 when it was ETA to go live, but had the major bulk of art etc inside. So chill.
Anggrath Jan 20th 2009 10:07AM
Tell me why they have the patch then?
Also, patch is live. Fools.
Eversor Jan 20th 2009 10:39AM
We can download the patch from some fansite mirror, yes. But it is not yet deployed on the servers. It will happen tomorrow, and anyone claiming that patch 3.0.8 is already on EU servers, I call shenanigans.
Anggrath Jan 20th 2009 10:52AM
Hey dummy, start WoW and try to log in. Patch download. pwned
CrazyP0nch Jan 20th 2009 8:30AM
why do I feel like Im in the Barrens chat all of a sudden....
y2fatboy Jan 20th 2009 9:27AM
We just need more Chuck Norris jokes to make it even more like Barrens chat...
ScytheNoire Jan 20th 2009 8:32AM
WoW Insider blew it big, because no US Patch today. Nice try, but the client isn't downloading, and all signs point to not US Patch.
So until it patches, this site is incorrect. I've never had it not start patching by this time in the day, so either Blizzard messed up, is really slow, or you jumped the gun and are wrong.
Anggrath Jan 20th 2009 10:02AM
Maintenance is extended today and patch is already released on EU servers. We still have a whole five hours and 23 minutes before it is over. Why are people so impatient.
Riz Jan 20th 2009 8:33AM
Europe gets a patch, but we don't?
THIS IS RACISM >.
Aliera Jan 20th 2009 8:34AM
