Patch 3.0.8 bug roundup
My favorite time of the patch day is here – looking at all the bugs! At the time of this writing, we're about six hours after the patch and the majority of bugs have been found. We've counted six of them, and will go over each and when the fix is expected after the break.Obviously some are more important than others. The Wintergrasp bug that is currently crashing servers left and right needs to be fixed "nao," as people are clamoring about in trade channels. The game is nearly unplayable for most people.
Interestingly there are no bugs about
The full list of 3.0.8 bugs, and information about their status, after the break.
1. Wintergrasp
The Bug: Any time Lake Winterfail changes side, the server crashes. Some reports have the bug only crashing Northrend, while others have the bug crashing the entire server. This means that some servers are barely playable.
The Fix: It's incoming. Bornakk has said they're going to disable the buff (which is the apparent cause) if they can't find an immediate solution. Expect the fix soon. Update: It appears the bug has been fixed, but we're waiting on official confirmation.
Additional information: Skarlet sends us the following tip: "We had found that with Wintergrasp crashing the servers constantly that the books for the Higher Learning Achievement were respawning on every crash. I think most of Proudmoores alliance has completed this achievement in about an hour now." Gasp!
2. Death Knight Creation
The Bug: As of today, people were supposed to be able to create a Death Knight on any realm – provided they had a level 55+ character present on their account. This has not happened, and some people are reporting that they are unable to create Death Knights on realms in which they don't have a 55+ character.
The Fix: It's incoming. Rolling restarts should take care of it, and we're guessing they'll be doing that within the next 12 hours.
3. Hunter Aspects On GCD
The Bug: Some Hunter aspects are still on a global cooldown like mechanic, which goes against Blizzard's intentions. People are placing the cooldown at 1.5 seconds (it should be 0).
The Fix: Soon. Ghostcrawler has said that they know about it and should have something worked out soon.
4. Howling Blast
The Bug: The tooltip indicates that there is no cooldown to the spell, when in reality it's on a 5 second cooldown. If you cast Howling Blast, and then try to do it immediately again, you'll notice the 5 second cooldown.
The Fix: Soon, says Ghostcrawler. But it's mainly an inconvenience and not a game breaker. Don't expect this to be fixed over night.
5. Animation Clipping
The Bug: Human females are having animation problems when using two handed weapons and shooting a ranged weapon.
The Fix: Soon. Blizzard is aware of the problem (they even announced it before the patch went live). We do not have any indication that they'll be correcting it before the next patch, however.
6. Ritual of Summoning
The Bug: There is a two minute cooldown for the Warlock to cast the new Ritual of Summoning spell. The spell will make a summoning stone, which can be used by party members to summon folks. The Warlock spell, not the stone, has a two minute cooldown. This was added at the last minute to prevent an exploit (no indication of what the exploit was).
The Fix: Soon. Blizzard is working on a solution, and Ghostcrawler expects this to be fixed in the next couple of days.
7. Missing mail, again?
We've gotten some reports on our twitter stream about missing mail and mail that won't go to players. Since we've gotten a few independent reports of this, it's worth mentioning and keeping an eye on. Let's all just say a silent prayer that we don't find ourselves without mail for a few days. My wallets need their AH gold.
We'll update this post when new information comes in tonight. And as always, keep an eye on WoW Insider throughout the day for the latest.
+10 geek points if you can tell me what the picture of the article is about.

Another bug, small but important. The Majestic Dragon Figurine, Arguably the best in slot trinket for resto druids, isn't proccing on instant cast heals. Kind of a problem for, you know, druids.

I got this last night, and was so excited to use it in Naxx tonight, and I ended up just having to sub it out for a blue.

Add Heroic UP to the list (maybe regular as well... but haven't tried). Skadi the Ruthless will despawn randomly, sometimes in the middle of the gauntlet, sometimes after dismounting, sometimes in the middle of a cold blast from the dragon. A couple of posters on WoWHead have also seen this.
zweitblom Jan 21st 2009 12:21AM
He already did that before the patch.

actually he depsawns always if you don't wait for all the mobs to take possition first, if you do event works just fine. This seems like an intentional fix (although overly done) to prevent using resets to exploit his two achievements. BUt i did kill him today by waiting for all the mobs to take possition, THEN party moves in on first group 2 at a time, the very slow and painful way. Cause he even despawned when we met mobs half way down hall like we normally would, he despawned if we tried reset method and taking all mobs at once in covey. he reset any way it was done except waiting then moving in.

We actually had the same problem with a couple different bosses several heroics. It may be affecting all of them.
XaunPy Jan 21st 2009 2:45AM
I also had this problem with UP
We tried 14 times.
We farmed a hefty amount of reputation though...

We tried so many different things on multiple runs to get past the Skadi part without it despawning and we were not successful. This is a really bad bug. I think we had it despawn on us at least 15+ times, regardless of whether or not we let the mobs set up first.
Yüffi Jan 21st 2009 12:11AM
Does the female bug also include mount problems.
Jessierockeron Jan 21st 2009 12:13AM
Auction house a little buggy?
Amaxe Jan 21st 2009 12:17AM
May not be a bug, but it seems like the oracle trinket is not restoring mana like it did pre-patch
Ikarus Jan 21st 2009 11:23AM
I got the BoA Trinket "Discerning Eye of the Beast" which increases spell power and is supposed to return 2% max mana from any kill that grants honor or XP and i didn't see it proc once
Amaxe Jan 21st 2009 12:46PM
If it *was* a problem with my trinkets, they must have fixed it with the restarts as my mana was working fine again..
Aside from Wintergrasp, this has been a relatively minor set of annoyances for me this patch.
...of course now that I said that, I will probably log on to see that because of a glitch, all shamans have become gnome warlocks level 1 ;-)
Bloodchills Jan 21st 2009 12:18AM
If you are a warlock and you have your demonic circle out, you can't sit down. This was recreated in 10man naxx tonite when I was trying to get buff food going and kept standing up.
My guess is that the bug is in something to do with the recent addition of snare/root removal when you use your teleport.
When the teleporter is not active I can eat, and sit around without any problems. As soon as I put up the teleporter, I can't sit down!
Feelmydots Jan 21st 2009 12:42AM
Wow, just confirmed that bug. Can't sit down when teleport is out. Weird.. Hopefully blizz know about this one. And also, they make it sound like theres a cooldown on our new summoning spell. Its still the old spell, with a cooldown. Nothing new about it.
Mablang Jan 21st 2009 9:56AM
If you Demonic Circle is out *and* you are in range. If

Northrend bear mounts (Polar, Brown, Black) have no mountspecial (/mountspecial or the space bar).
A friend of mine had the Skadi bug mentioned above. They tried it 10 times, running out of the instance, everything, he would always despawn as they were all running down the gauntlet.
Dan Jan 21st 2009 1:09AM
I recently noticed that too. The bears now also have their mouths closed (not sure if this is a bug) and my gnome doesn't seem to sit properly on them (he is a bit sinked in to the model, not sitting correctly on the seat, and a friend of mine's human character had his feet inside the bear).
Aliqux Jan 21st 2009 12:21AM
I don't think the levitate cast on others is working right. I could only get it to work on people within my group. The patch notes, nor the wording on the spell says anything about this.
Cyttorak Jan 21st 2009 12:23AM
The Kalimdor Loremaster is Bugged as well. I was only 10 away from the previous total 690/700 and I logged on today to find out that Im now 668/685.
Submitted a ticket and GM said it was a known issue.
